chirping noise when speeding up-help
 

I recently made a post regarding a chirping noise im hearing in my engine bay while am driving when i have the accelerator down too far

this normally starts to happen when i hit second gear, its when i have the pedal past that comfortable position ad more towards to pressing down further to the floor.


I checked all the gaskets and made sure everything was tightened down- the problem is its still going on

i recently put another engine in my car and tok off the ac as well as the emissions, which i thought was supose to add more hp. it seems as if my car takes a good while to speed up to a mere 70, if i try to push it to go faster it will make ths chirping noise again.. im not sure whats going on with this, i have a 12a motor, any coments will help and are appreciated

First, check your timing. If that's ok, do a search for "butterfly valve".

Your car didn't lose power, the reason it's taking so long to reach 70 is because you probably removed the rats nest which is responsible for the emissions. The thing is that is also responsible for advancing the timing when you go on the freeway - if you notice some of those vacum lines hook on to the distributer. As far as the noise...does it make the squeaky noise in reverse...if it does it's going to be the u-joints on your drive shaft - that's the problem I had a while ago.

If you've recently modded your car - look for patches of rubber behind your car. Bone stock, with a manual, you should be able to chirp in 2nd and 3rd...

Did you use the 3L220 belt when taking out the emissions? You could be hearing your fan or belt slipping otherwise.

If he followed the tutorial, then he has proper vacuum advance on his dizzy...

If he didn't, I'm not sure what he might have removed ;)

followed the tutorial, actually had someone help me install the engine and remove the rats nest that knows a little about rx7s

no the noise is not there when im in reverse, its as if im pushing the gas and its trying to hard to do somrthing then chirps because it cant handle what its doing

could it be his clutch or flywheel?

Could be the fan clutch. Vacuum leaks tend not to 'chirp' as much as they honk/drone.

I've never had my clutch chirp, and I've had a flywheel back off the flywheel nut without so much as a peep.

Double check the tension of your belts - you did say that you put on the yoohoo (3L220) belt, right?

Also, with your car warmed up, put it in neutral and accelerate past 5k rpms (warmed up is important!). Let us know if it chirps then - if so, and your belts are fine, my money is on the fan clutch.

sounds like the belts to me,
i'm pretty sure if they're new belts they'll loosen up a bit after you tighten them the first time?.
anyways that's my idea.

actually fuond it was the timing, it was about 20 degrees off and the belts were a little loose
