Chassis swapping
 

the other GSLSE i got has a shot body, and i have access to a GSL that is in mint shape inside and out. but its got no suspension or engine. What kinda of hell would i be getting into swapping the suspension and motor into the GSL? the suspension i figure cant be that bad. maybe two days to do. but the motor is the trick. i heard that the crossmember from the GSLSE must be swapped in the GSL chassis inorder for everything to turn out right. is this correct? Anything else i should know? i cant rememeber if the wiring harness was chassis and motor in one. if so i think i could just use the wiring harness from the GSLSE as a whole.

There are 2 wiring harnesses that connect to stuff that makes the car run. Also the transmission harnesses are different. The harness on the passenger side is pretty simple to swap over. On the other side, I would just trace the lines you need to run on a wiring diagram, use the clips from the gslse harness, and run new leads from the computer to the drivers side of the car. You will be adding 2 "Main Relays" and 2 more fusible links, plus changing the way the Fuel pump turns on. The ignition is also significantly different.

Yeah, I'm just not sure swapping the entire drivers side harness is worth it. I did it on mine, I wouldn't do it again... there's only a few wires you need...

am i correct in having to swap the crossmember though?

When your swap the front suspension, drop the entire thing in one piece, struts, crossmember, sway bar, etc. Much simpler that way. You will also need to switch the fuel tank, hardlines and pump. Soft fuel lines need to be upgraded to FI rated lines along with all the clamps..
