Carpeting
 

Hello all
So I started gutting the interior of my new to me FB....So I get to the last section of carpeting to be removed. This would be the front carpet, well shut my mouth wide open.It seems I have to remove or at least lift some how get the section of the dash that comes down towards the shifter, to be able to get the carpet out. Besides the obvious of cutting it out if not re-using it.
Any secrets to removing this, or am I diving in deep and undoing the dash to lift it up?????????????????

you cant really tell but there is like a square cut out where the shifter is. take the little plastic pieces convered in carpet by there off. you can cut the back of the carpet and pull it staright out towards the rear. ill post a pic later if you need

Picture would be great, I was trying to figure this out too. I thought about just cutting the carpet under the dash since you wouldn't be able to see the cut anyways.

i did this, having no carpet is a pretty interesting way to go, just remove the tar... i'm at this stage.

if you don't remove the tar, everything will get black stains

its eaiser to life the dash to remove the carpte. you CAN remove it without unbolting the dash but it is next to impossible to install without the dash loose.

the dash attatches with two 10mm bolts on each side. then there are three screws from the top. you must remove teh defroster vents to acces these and use a right angle bit. remove the attatching screws just to get the dash kinda loose and that should work to get the carpet out.

you can always make a cut from the front of the car to the shifter and then it will be easy to take out.. then when you put it back in you just use a carpet screw to hold the carpet down. the dash will cover the cut anyway.

Heading out to the man cave to tinker with it....Finally some warm weather up here in the hinterlands. Near 50 degrees today.
Yes a picture would be good, I really don't want to do the dash.....getting old and lazy

i need a pic as well i have to take out my tan Carpet and put in my new black one.

You can take the carpet OUT pretty easily like everyone said. Just remove the center arm rest/stereo control section and you can just pull that carpet right out from underneath the dash.

Putting it back in with the dash still bolted in IS doable, but is a PITA since there's also insulation under the carpet. I've done it, it just takes a lot of wiggling and twice the patience. Good luck with that!

I took it out yesterday made one small cut near the shifter and got it out.
I'm ordering a carpet set from Black Dragon Automotive, it's a one piece kit not 2 pieces like the stocker, and I'll get the rear cargo carpet also.
So it will take a bit more to get it in, since it's allot bigger.

you may want to search carpet because someone said the blackdragon ones had really bad fit. http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Carpets/Maz...CCS01381/26780 this place was linked to have a good fit. and i think its cheaper.

There is a U shapped bracket behind the center faceplate. Remove that and you can slide the carpet in or out.

I'll give them a ring and see if they sell the other sections, I need all three.
