My oNly source of Internet is my iPhone but yeah that shouldn't be a problem.

JoeNoble 03-21-11 06:01 PM

Ok so I can't seem to email them from my iPhone (too big maybe?) so can I send them to you via text or SMS or whatever?

JoeNoble 03-22-11 06:35 AM

Anyone wanna just re-up the photos to the boards for others reference? Joe, it wont let me view your facebook.

JoeNoble 03-25-11 07:16 AM

Wow Great documentation guys!

bahlorm 05-15-11 07:32 PM

I am guessing that all the red parts are the ones that can be taken off without causing the car to act stupid?

dont you mean act a fool? lol yes you are correct

Jingkun 08-04-11 10:21 PM

Awesome, Thanks Joe. I'm finally getting some time to get back on the forum. Anyhow, got any idea if the 83 GP kit will work on an 80 carb? Advance wants almost $60 for the 80s version and the 83 is $25.

JoeNoble 08-04-11 10:35 PM

It should but Autozone should be able to get you either kit for about $25

Jingkun 08-04-11 10:43 PM

Good to hear. I got the 83 kit but I have a spare carb off an 80 that came with a $25 12a I bought awhile back as a rebuild project I'll get around to some day... So yeah I figure my cars running now but since this is my first rebuild I'll just rebuild the 80 and see how that works just so I dont have to sacrifice my running carb.

Quick question. How bad is it if i cant unscrew one of the "primary slow air bleed & jet" if it matters its the one on the right side of the diagram.

Just leave it - they break easily when forced. Spray some carby cleaner down there and it will be fine.

i am having some trouble taking off the main and secondary fuel jets. i have the access holes open but i have a flathead that will fit but it is too small or a too big flathead that cant fit. any specific tool anyone recommends? to remove them to replace the washers? thanks

i had to buy a larger screwdriver and grind the head down

Jingkun 08-08-11 05:10 AM

Cool thanks. I'll probably try to bore it back out to stock size too since the top opening collapsed a little. I was starting to contemplate either couter drilling to pull it and getting a new set of jets and bleeds or just redrilling all the bores to match for holly parts since I read somewhere that sterling does that.

You don't have to drill anything. The Holley Dominator jets are so close to the Nikki threads that they screw right in. Just buy some Holley Dominator jets of whatever size you need and put them in.

Jingkun 08-09-11 12:01 AM

Thanks ham, ill keep that in mind. Like i said tho im new to carbs so i dont even know what all the sizings are. What jet size would you recommend for a stock port engine with full rb exhaust, stripped nikki, emissions removed, mechanical secondarys, 12a engine?

GrandmoffSilvey 08-09-11 06:48 PM

bumping (for a good thread)

Stock jetting, or maybe 95/160 for fuel if you're running a tad bit lean or running more advanced timing. That's just a small step up on the primaries.
