which carb kit?
I need to rebuild my carb, but there are two kits to choose from. I looked at my carb, but didn't see a name on it. The local AutoZone sells a kit for a Nikki carb and a Sorensen carb.
The carb is on a '84 GS - 12a, 5spd. Do any of you know what carb is on this car or how do I find out which one I have? Thanks |
Uh, I've never for sure determined which carb i have either but i've heard people talking about Webers, Dell'Orto's, Nikki's and Holley's, but Never Sorensen's, so I can't imagine its the Sorensen.

If it's stock it's a nikki.

yep, its stock - thanks :)

You've probably got a Nikki. Weber, Holley and Dell'orto are aftermarket performance carbs. If it's stock, it's a Nikki, from my understanding.

rebuild kit
I bought a rebuild kit from mazdatrix awhile back and it was not complete. The kit was complete, but what I mean is, their definition of a kit is not... I took it somewhere to get rebuild and he ended up buying a whole new kit from the dealer for around $125...

I just bought a rebuild kit from a local mazda dealer for about $80. It came with everything i needed except the gasket for the intake manifold. Which was still in good shape so i left it on there. Oh yeah, it didnt come with new screws to replace all the rusted screws youll find. Plan on making a few trips to the hardware store for new screws.
