Car bogging then runs fine any ideas?

Car ran out of gas friday, filled up ran fine didnt drive 2 days then today ran fine until I tried to go faster on interstate, it started to bog real bad but when I let off gas idled fine then gave gas and felt like it was running out of gas or not getting gas. Any ideas I'm thinkg maybe my fuel pumpo is going would it work one minute and then not the next?

Sounds like clogged fuel filter.

Yeah could be I have 2 fuel filters have to check em

I bet it is because alot of times when it runs out of gas, it will suck up all the crud and shit that was at the bottom. I had a bad gas tank and I would clog a filter in less than 300 miles (highway).

wow I have to check that now when i get home from work

I am not saying that your fuel tank is full of shit like mine was, I am just saying that alot of times there is some rust/dirt floating around at the bottom and when the fuel level gets real low the crud gets sucked up.

change the undercar fuel filter. what happens when you run the tank down till empty the shit that accumulates in the tank over the years only has 1 place to go......right up the pickup and into the undercar filter. as long as you keep gas in the tank the debris is dispersed in the gas but when you go rock bottom well you know.

Filter... as stated before.. I had an 83 that would do the same thing except it would go to the extreme of shutting off on WOT... REbuilt the carb, no change .... then realized " oh shit my car is 20 years old with the original gas tank and it sat for 2 years.... I'd better change out the fuel filters (had two)..."

WHAMMMM problem solved...

I don't know if anybody mentioned it already, but it could be your fuel filter. :D

Definatly Fuel Filter...

I had a refurbished gas tank on my first GSL and there was a bit of crud form the process still left in the tank, and sure enough one day driving down the Highway the fuel filter cloged up. I could drive slow (Maybe 40 mph) but anything over would result in a car that I had to stop and shut off, and re start again. Changed the fuel filter and porblem solved.

The reason the car would run again is because there was less fuel being drawn through the system which means a lower pressuer, so when I shutt the car down all the crap would fall off the filter media and into the filter housing, step up the speed and bam cloged again...

Thanks I ll change that and see what happens
