Can you identify the header? ANYONE?

Ok, lets play name that header. I have only seen the pics of headers in catalogs and the RB in person so.

what is this one, lets call it header A. (supposedly 13b)

and this one, Header B. (supposedly 13b)

and Finally C. (supposedly 12a)

They are collectively known as ugly ass headers...

yayarx7 03-21-02 04:02 PM

I knew that much.

rx7gslse 03-21-02 04:04 PM

the 2nd one is on Ebay....

I wouldn't buy it, but I saw it....

The only one I've actually seen is RB, and it says RB on the mounting flange. (that and the flange is one part, not two, like a couple of those)

nimrodTT 03-21-02 04:05 PM

so why do you need to know this?

guru 03-21-02 04:08 PM

CP RACING

Ok here we go header "c" is a perphrial port only 12a race header for sure. Header "b" is a horribly assembled race header kit for a 12a not 13b(no o2 port) for sure, where all the pieces come in a box and you weld them together, it looks like old mazdatrix or mazda competition maybe. header "a" is a 13b header, but who made it somewhat of an enigma, it is beautiful though. 2 outta 3 not so bad!

They are all on ebay. They just do not seem to know what they have so I though I would ask the experts.

BTW it looks to me like B might have the O2 port on it, ther is a wire or somthing at the bottom of the header there.

V8kilr 03-21-02 04:21 PM

header b is a road race header,
the goes to a y and a presilencer

V8kilr 03-21-02 04:24 PM

btw they all look racing beat to me,
notice where the pipe bends, theres no wrinles,
which means its either some real nice mandrel bends or thick wall steel,
i put my money on thick wall steel,im pretty sure companys like pacesetter dont use thick wall steel.

yayarx7 03-21-02 04:32 PM

A is definetely not RB as the runners turn right after the flange and RB the rear runner travels outward a little bit to make the header equal length. plus it has no RB stamped in it.

I was thinking B was a RB knockoff of some kind as there is no RB stamped in it.

There is no way in hell C is RB. RB are single flange.

RXcetera 03-21-02 04:36 PM

None of them are Racingbeat. #2 and #3 look like custom jobs w/awful bends. #1 I'm not familiar with.

WackyRotary 03-21-02 04:42 PM

The last pic is a Perperal port header.

BadAssRX-7 03-21-02 04:42 PM

c looks like a pp. header

yayarx7 03-21-02 04:45 PM

why would a PP header be different from a normal header? the exhaust ports do not move.

peejay 03-21-02 04:49 PM

The factory PP housings have a different bolt flange pattern.

I was looking at it myself and wondering... HMM. But it's so hard to tell that I didn't say anything. :)

A - (13B) is a custom setup - look how sqaure the flange is, the collector and flange is straight from V8 land.

B - (13B) looks like a racing beat copy or maybe a u-weld-it that just didnt have the RB cut out on the flange.

C - (12A) not a perf. port, I own two that look very similar to this one. Peripherial ports have tiny flanges and the bolt holes are very close to the tube.

nimrodTT 03-21-02 04:58 PM

No wonder the server was busy, 50 other people posting while I was trying to.

yayarx7 03-21-02 11:58 PM

I have to go with nimrod on this one. THANKS! Where did the ones you own that are like C come from?

nimrodTT 03-22-02 12:39 AM

One was from a parts car and one from a car in a junkyard. Dead cars tell no tales; the owners didnt have a clue either. I suspect they might be mazda headers, but have found no proof.

Oddly enough, the one that came with the parts car had a presilencer bolted to it that looked just like the presilencer thats attached to header B.

RotorMotorDriver 03-22-02 12:44 AM

I dunno, and I dont care :). Im getting my RB stuff this Thursday (see sig to see what Im getting):D.

V8kilr 03-22-02 01:41 AM

note also that the top header is for a 13b from racing beat not a 12a.
maybe its not from rb but looks damn close.

yayarx7 03-22-02 02:25 AM

it does look close, I never seen the PP header before. But C looks like the flange is bigger as nimrod said. I am goin for it anyhow.

nimrodTT 03-22-02 03:27 AM

how much is it going for? I'll sell you one of my headers for $100

yayarx7 03-22-02 03:28 AM

I think it is less than that.....for now.....sounds like a good deal. I assume yours bolts up to the stock cat.
