Can someone tell me where these wires go? with pics!

they are coming from the ignitors, but what do these wires go to? I'm guessing the black wire with the bullet style connector is a ground? http://img317.imageshack.us/img317/9...led13jr.th.jpg this is one of the coils of course. #2 is pointing toward the "+" does this just hook to the battery? Don't the coils recieve a signal from the ignitors? I apologize in advance for my ignorance of electrical systems :) |
I have wires I have no clue what they're for, but seem to have been chopped off.
If I knew a little more about the car, I'd lend in my $.02, but I can only relate to you and not knowing it. |
The coils + should connect to switched 12v. Is this going in your 2nd gen? You could use the stock power source (goes to brown wire of 2nd gen coil pack) for your switched +.
- bullet connector (w/ black wire), leading and trailng coil + all go to switched 12v - the bottom connection for each ignitors (green wire in your first pic) goes to switched 12V as well. - the ignitor closest to front is leading. The top connection (blue in your pic) goes to the - terminal of the leading coil. - the top connection of the other ignitor goes to trailing coil - terminal. You can then connect to either the trailing - or leading - (usually it is trailing in the case of stock) to connect to the factory tach. I would have to check the wiring diagrams to see what color the wire is for your car. Hope this helps. If you need any help, let me know. Kent |
thanks man thats exactly the info i needed. so my factory tach should plug into this thing somehow? I'm going to print out your post and work on it using that as a guideline and i'll look you up if i come to any more problems.

The leading and trailing - will each have a connection to their respective ignitors. The trailing - will also have the connection for the tach.

The tach send wire is usually orange with a green stripe IIRC.
But then again, I AM colorblind. |
jones - pop over to www.ohiorotaries.com and ask there. I think we had at least one other from the New Philly/Chilli area. He might be able to help.
I know I'm down that way fairly often for rally races and blasting through the fun roads. |
