Camden supercharger
ooooooooooooooooook, i finally decided im going SC, no turbo, to many problems. When i install this camden.
what else do i need?? am i gonna break my tranny and rearend and clutch to peices? is this 2500 charger gonna end up costing me 5000 for other shit? |
call atkins rotary, they specialize in supercharged wankels

i was looking into boost a few years ago and my take of it is that i can build a t2 motor and get a turbo and standalone for about the same price as a s.c and all the parts needed to make it work... on my same motor... so i went the turbo route. i think when i was doing the math it was about 3500-4000 for all the stuff on a atkins (camden) kit
|
They liked them so well, Atkins bought the camden company and moved it to washington.
|
bout to buy one myself, but I am getting mine from a friend for 1k
|
The kit is very nice. I've been helping a friend put one in a Toyota Starlet. Haven't fired it up yet. The kit is very complete and pretty easy to install.
|
The most beautiful thing about this setup is its simplicity. I plan to be pushing around 320hp with a 7inch. THe 9-12 inch setups are still under development and have not been produced for a 13b application yet.
|
Twigg- I live in Orlando and I have the camden supercharger but only the 5" because when I bought mine it was the only one you could buy. My car is in their gallery. What are you putting it in and are you running a carb? Installation is a snap and good instructions.
|
A turbo blow through on a weber is pretty much a cheapest power result ratio to make if you make your bonnet and can get a cheapo s4 or s5 turbo and wield the flange and bolt it up to your 12a or 13b, whatever you are using. There are a few things missing, like fuel system, but you'll need a lot of fuel! :D
My turbo car is NOT slow and wasn't over $1000 to make work. Runs 14's all day(ran a 14.13 for a best for my first time at the track), but is capible of much more with the boost raised over 7psi and slicks would EASILY make it a mid 13's car. |
Guys - he didn't ask whether he should go turbo. He stated he was going SC and asked what was involved :D
We should have one thread for turbo vs SC and it shouldn't be clickable at all. Just both camps yelling at each other ad nauseum :D |
give me a call and i will be happy to answer all of your questions about the supercharger 253-848-7776 .
Dan Atkins |
What kind of horsepower gains would you get from a supercharger on a 13b EGI
|
Way to go Dan Atkins! Thats Service!

30% out of the box

JIMMDOG thanks for the compliment !!!
and it is about 30% out of the box depending on the porting and model of 13-B Dan Atkins |

Your smartest move if your getting a Supercharged system....get it from Atkins only "camden all the way"....trust me...I have one in my car from them....
It's not all about the money with them....it's about the Love and effort that they put into their products....very honest people..... Once a supercharger always a supercharger.... |
I have no porting or anyhting done to my engine. My engine is Bone stock atm, ive been to busy restoring to modify
|
on my early 4 port 13-B ( it is stage 3 ported ) I am making 280hp @ the flywheel .
It is about 30% out of the box. |
Probably around 230-240hp. You will want to look into a rebuild when going forced induction, especially with a NA engine. They have higher compression rotors and the seals can not handle the boost with high mileage.
|
However, higher compression means higher horsepower!!
(the only tradeoff for less life) I'm tryin to talk metallic_rock into going super, as my car is turbo. i think it would be tight to have both, beings we're really good friends. Turbo vs. Super!!! |
well its nice too see i got 19 replys, BUT I ASKED OnCE I SUPER CHARGE? WHAT ELSE WILL I NEED. I KNOW ILL BREAK THE REAR END AND TRANNY...... or am i wrong?

Thats why you need to call Dan Atkins. /\ /\ he posted his number above!! His parents own the company that you would be buying the supercharger from!! I think he could pretty much tell ya what you would need. |
Twigg- You can break any tranny or rear end but I have had the Atkins supercharger on my car for three years and have NOT broken anything and I also live in Orlando. I have bought a 88 turbo tranny to install because I've heard such bad things about my smooth case 79 5spd but then I do not slam gears. I have had good luck with my supercharger and if you want to look at mine just PM. Atkins always answered my questions no matter how dumb and it must be hard to work when people call all the time but I always got timely responces.
