Calling carb god's, please help! Webber problem
K i got my webber kit from rotary shack. Intake, gaskets, and webber, i installed everything, had a gas leak right above the headers, at the bottom of the intake manafold. then had to remove it and fabrcate my own gasket, put sealant all around it , then put the manafold back on, installed the direct fire ign, then it fired up, wouldnt idle, would die, of if i raised the idle it would only idle at 1500 rpm and it SMOKED BAD, burning oil like crazy, then we finally after trying to get it to run smooth flooded the damn motor, and that was a week ago! now im driving back to orlando to see if i can get it to run! Please if any of you have ran into this problem, or know what could be causing this, please post your comments.
problem is: after making own gasket, perfectly to the one givin to me, it finally cranked up without leakin gas from the bottom of the intake manafold. When it did crank it burnt oil bad, lots of blue smoke constantly! Could it be running rich? Now ive flooded it and gas is coming out the carb, so it was last week, and now im returning to take on the rex today. I gotta get it running today to take back to tampa to get to work on monday so if ya`ll could help me in any way be much thanks!!!! |
ran the same with the direct fire ignition on , or the stock back on

sounds like you have a vacuum leak..hence the high idle. Fuel running out of the carb might be due to too much fuel pressure. If you're using anything other than the stock fuel pump you probably need to add a fuel pressure regulator.

you've most likely got a vaccume leak. that seems to be the most common problem right now. make sure upon reinstalation all metal is 100% and i mean 100% bare clean metal. The hot ass engine likes to make gaskets rock hard and stick to the enigne and never come off creating vaccume leaks after new gasktes are put on...

i used lost of gasket sealing and there seems to be no leak

gasket sealant is garbage. get real gasket and have perfect serfaces for the gasket to mate to...

I agree, I bet your didn't clean the engine mating surface. you probably still have some crap from the old intake gasket on there making a vacuum leak and your trying to bandaid it with sealant. All your parts are new I'm assuming, so it user error somewhere.

DONT BE CHEAP and buy a new gasket clean the old gasket off the block check your fuel pressure, if you dont have a regulator with a fuel pressure gauge, GET ONE, helps carb not flood ,sidedraft webber use 4psi ,dellortto us e 3-3.5 psi, mukuni 3 psi ,webber downdraft 5 psi ? good luck
