A/C Dryer Replacement

2 Attachment(s)
Replacing the A/C dryer on 1983 GS. Here is a pic of the stock dryer and here is the replacement. Looks like there is a low pressure switch on the stock dryer but the replacement does not have it. Should we just connect the two wires together, or should we leave them disconnected? Attachment 730638Attachment 730639

Is the system empty/evacuated? Remove wires from switch on dryer in car,put correct size wrench on switch and unscrew and note thread size and pitch. remove plug from same position on new dryer and install pressure switch in that port if the threads are same-use best sealing washer of the two and install dryer.

You need the pressure switch in place for the compressor to operate properly. As stated above, there are way to make it work. I think I bought an adapter once that allowed the stock switch to work with an aftermarket receiver/dryer. Make sure you take the car to a shop and have a good vacuum put on the system and the correct amount of oil and refrigerant put into the system. Having a vacuum is very important before a charge. Simply using a can from a parts store is not the best way to go about charging the system.

What dryer is this? Where did you source it? Curious because it has the site glass in the top.
