Building an IT RX-7 for the street...

I just bought an old ITS RX-7. I was going to restor the car but it's in pretty bad shape. I've decided to just take all the suspension and stuff and swap it over to my brown car. Here's all I got in the deal.

Front coil-overs
Rear springs
Front Carera adjustable shocks
Rear Tokico adjustable shocks
Modified WATT's links
Front sway bar
Camber plates with strut brace
Autopower roll bar (cutting out cage)
Race seat
SS lines
GSL-SE suspension (upgrade bolt pattern and brakes)
Front airdam w/brake ducts

there's probably more that I'm missing, but I'll be sure to take lots of pictures. It's all pretty nice stuff. I'm looking forward to installing it. And BTW, this car will no longer be my daily driver when it's done.

I also have tons of stuff left over for sale. Tranny, Griffith radiator, 4.88 gears, etc. Check out my post in the for sale section.

Well I completly removed the front suspension yesturday as well as cleaned it all up. It's ready to go into my Brown car sometime today hopefully. I stilll need to remove the rear WATT's link arms and the axels to swap everything over. The car has some nice goodies I wasn't expecting. The struts have been modified with a new pertch welded on lower for the coilovers, the shocks are figgin huge, although I still haven't figured out if they're adjustable or not. I can find no way to change rates, so I'm assuming they are fixed. The rod though is about 7/8" thick though. It also has akerman spacers welded onto the struts to improve the turn it and return the roll center above ground. And I also figured out the camber plates have solid bushings in the top as well. The bad surprised were how much rust is on the car. The chasis is pretty much garbage. I'll probably take everything out of value, swap over my stock parts, and sell it to my car club for a beginner car.

On a side note, does anyone know what sway bar I have? It used to be red, and the sticker on it has some big letters I couldnt' make out, and said "MOTORSPORTS" in blue on the bottom. It's got two adjustability holes, although it's possible one was added later. It's not hollow, it's a solid bar, and it's heavy.

Well the full suspension is is minus the rear axels and rear brakes. One of the axels was bent, so I need to find a replacment GSL-SE unit before I can finish everything up. I just finished swapping the Roll bar over to my car tonight. All that's left is to rebuild the brake calipers, replace the bent rear axel, and swap over a few little things from the race car. Here's a list of what's on the car and what's coming. "*" is what's already installed.

*Front coil-overs
*Rear springs
*Front Carera shocks
*Rear Tokico shocks
*Modified WATT's links
*Front sway bar
*Camber plates with strut brace
*Autopower roll bar (cutting out cage)
Race seat
SS lines
*GSL-SE suspension (upgrade bolt pattern and brakes)
Front airdam w/brake ducts
Fuel Cell
Brake proportioning valve
*Hawk HP pads

BTW the car's handling is absolutly amazing. This is by far the best handling car I've ever driven, and that's saying a lot. I can't even imagine what an alignment and a nice set of race tires will do. I can't wait for autoX season to start back up, I predict some pretty nice finishes.

Sounds like its gonna be a bad ass machine. :)

Details of the shocks...like pics? I'd love to see how they adapted them to the RX. Did you leave the rear sway bar off?

I'm very unsatisfied with my RX7's handling, even with shocks/springs/big front sway bar/bushings(front), etc. I'm looking at the rear the same way I look at the rear of a Fox Mustang...it's crap. How is your watts modded? I'm thinkign I'll just make a PHB for mine...

I took tons of pictures of the suspension to update my website. I was going to post them up here but I forget the URL. i'll post every thing when I get it. Merry Christmas to everyone. I'm going to go see what new toys I just got... :-)
