ok i dont get the diffrence of street port and bridge port on my 1985 rx7

bottom left is a streetport, bottom right is a bridgeport

streetport is better for street driving

bridgeport moves the powerband way up, and increases the idle

 

I'm new to the gang but here's my understanding of it. In a "Streetport" the ports are machined to a larger size to allow more fuel to enter the engine and more exhaust to escape thereby increasing the engine's horsepower. A "Bridgeport" accomplishes the same but in addition to machining the ports to a larger size, another port or "bridge" is added to allow even more fuel and exhaust to enter into and expel from the engine thereby increasing the horsepower even more that the "Streetport". One side effect with this brige in a "Bridgeport" is a radical sounding idle that lopes constantly. If you're someone who doesn't really need the extra power, are going to be mainly street driving your vehicle, and have cops in your area that will jack you for modified exhaust, I would suggest a Streetport. Streetport gets you +25%hp.

Bridgeport gets you +50%hp if your exhaust is truly freeflow, extremely loud and 10mpg.

if you want high hp out of an n/a setup go with a bridgeport. it will idle like a hobo begging for crack and your low end power band will suck t3h *****. but, you will achieve your n/a power (with supporting mods such as large carb, good intake, open exhaust as said, etc..)

if you are not going to ever have boost on the engine and don't want to be fast then get a street port. it will give you a little more power with the supporting mods mentioned above and also eat away at your fuel mileage..... but in a lesser percentage
