i just redone my brakes on my 85 gs..i went off of the hanes manual and done everything it said...so i got it all put back together and went driving... the brakes were pressured up just like before..(didnt take calipers or wheel cylinders off) so i hit the brakes going down the road at about 40...the entire car..i mean the entire car shutters like hell..the car stops but i know it shouldnt be like that..i need help..cause as of now..i have no vehicle..

miss a brake pad? put one on backwards? not tighten your wheel all the way? if you bled your brakes at all do it again. pump the pedal a few times before you drove it?
|
You replaced the shoes on the rear? If they are not seated and adjusted properly they can cause vibration. I would recheck everything you replaced.
|
the self adjusters on the rear drum can seize and some adjustment is needed at times.

Sounds like you didn't torque the lug bolts per spec, (87 lb/ft max), or the rotors are warped. Start with the bolts, rotors second, then check that the pads are seated correctly.

i found the problem....i just got hopeless and put the back end of the car on jack stands..cracked her up and put it first and let it roll..the passenger side is just fine...the driver side just about fell off the stand ): the wheel is balanced..so i took the wheels off and found that it was still vibrating like hell..i had the rear drums turn by a brake shop...i took back the driver side drum and found that the machine didnt turn it evenly causing a slight bump...so that made the shoes not grap right and off balance..they fixed it and its perfectly fine now... also..thanx for all the imput.. helps alot when u dont know where to get started... (:
