Brake proportioning valve help
I'm not getting much fluid out of the rear brake lines, and as far back as I could follow them, none of the lines were collapsed. So at this point I'm pretty sure the problem is with the proportioning valve. I took it out once already to try to give it a quick clean but that didn't fix anything. I'm going to take it out again once I have time with the car again.
So what I want to know is A) Is there a proper procedure I should follow to clean out the proportioning valve or should I just blast it from the opened hex nuts with brake cleaner till it can't take anymore and B) Does the proportioning valve stay the same between all model years? I have a 79 but would I be able to swap between any other year first gen with drums? Thanks! |
So it can get stuck. To unstick it you have to really jump on the brakes a couple times with a lot effort. This
usually will get it shifted back in place to allow fluid to the rears. Had to it few times after a complete fluid change. |

No, I mean while it sitting on stands. You have to do it violently and rapidly. Get mad at it!
