Boot black on side trim - pics

Some time ago, I mentioned using shoe polish to renew that faded old rubber
side trim (assuming you still have it on your car).

It was soooo nice out, today, that I decided to clean and wax the ol' girl up.
Here's a pic of a half-done piece of side trim (just under the side emblem)...

I usually put it on each time I wax the car and it's no harder than applying Armor All.

In the next photo, please note shameless inclusion of my shadow for you guys up north

Shadow: (n) An area that is not or is only partially irradiated or illuminated because
of the interception of radiation by an opaque object between the area and the source
of radiation such as the SUN.

Sun: (n) A star that is the basis of the solar system... the source of heat and light
(on Earth). Infrequently seen by northern 1st gen RX-7 owners... :p:

It was +3 today (celsius - that's warm)

Considering it's winter an I'm on the northern prairies, it seems global warming is factual :)

Wow, I'll have to try that next time I wash the car. I use Mothers Back to black, it works good, but no where as shiny as that.

actually, it was +14 celsius here today.... very warm for December...

Today was warm here too, like 40F, not bad for this time of year.

It was a chilly 79F around here today.

Caution with boot blackener though - it rubs off as easily as it rubs on. Watch those light colored pants!

I want to see pics of the car with a better full view..

True - well, not quite. You put it on just like you polish your shoes. Rub a coat on, let it dry awhile, then buff. Once dry, it will no more rub off on your clothes than your shoes will. Although that doesn't mean "not at all", normal, light rubbing against your car will not stain your clothing. "Humping" your car, however, will probably get you a stain... So, there might be a few of you who probably shouldn't use it :D

Yeah, but it's like, mid-summer down under, isn't it? It's "winter" here...

Well... I'd say try both and compare. Shoe polish isn't gonna do much good if your trim isn't faded and Armor All won't do much good if it's as faded as mine. The best is a combination of both. Shoe polish first to blacken and shine it, and Armor All next to protect it. Gives it a really nice rich finish and I think the Armor All helps it last longer.
