Body panel replacement
 

i cant seem to find this piece. its the valence thing that is below the actaul rear bumper but sorta connects to the rear quarter panel. Right above the muffler. Mines rusted to hell and back. And you find a replacement? or should i chop one off a parts car?

How does it attach? Dont think I have every taken one off.

im really not sure...i almost thinks its part of the rear quarter panel sections. but that wouldnt make sense. Ill have to look.

I know what you are talking about! That thin metal that has the slight indent where the muffler sits and where the rear license frame mounts too.

It is spot welded in place, I actually remove mine when I was making the rear skirt and took it off the silver rx7 when putting in the fuel cell...

Usually it rusts up however mine was mint when I removed it. I still have it sitting around at the shop.

hmm...i have an idea. i bet i can remove then make one from plastic.

Jimmy, what'd you do to the edges when you removed that metal, (I don't want to have to deal with shaping it after I replaced the rear quarter.

The piece is spot welded across the top and 2 or 3 more spot welds down the ends on the rear quarters. With the bumper removed, the top welds are easy to see, the ones on the ends are not.

Of you know someone that does good tin work and has a brake, the part is not that hard to reproduce. Hardest part will be getting the slight bow from end to end, while bending the curve.
