Really nice to look at, will be a lot of fun to keep it clean :D If it wasn't for the fact that it's ten o'clock in the evening, I'd start polishing right now. Keep pics like that coming, they keep me inspired! |

Thanks, but I'm not happy yet. Maybe when I paint the irons and a few other little details It will look alot better. I took the stuff to get done by a pro, but I was'nt happy with what he did so I got a dremel and a polishing kit a went to work.
this is what I will use to keep the shine http://www.zoops.com/zoopseal.asp This is what I'm aiming for https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...d=103806&stc=1 My friends " Check out the dipstick:D" http://img76.exs.cx/img76/9765/picture0243jz.jpg https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...d=100951&stc=1 Like this |
ya thats what i would be aiming for too
|
Trust me, paint wont hold up. You'll be really disappointed in a year when the shine fades. Go for powdercoating, and clear PC the polished stuff.
|
damn, now I have to start looking for that re uim for mine.

It's pretty goopy paint. I might try that in lieu of powder coating. Maybe use some Ford tractor blue or gray... |
Give it a shot I guess. But isint the tractor engine basically exposed? I think its the confinement of the hot engine compt that kills the shine of even good engine paint over time.

Diesels are HOT running motors...think about it, they have no spark plugs because the compressing of the air/fuel to about 19 to 1 increases heat to cause combustion, i doubt anyones rotary is running that hot...unless you have carbon buildup and hot spots firing off your mix. diesel engine paint should hold up if you have enough airflow in the engine compartment, i wouldnt think you have anything to worry about

well my polished housing shere sold to Tweak. But now I have new FD Housings.
It's a thing of beauty:D http://img196.echo.cx/img196/6536/picture0399eg.jpg http://img231.echo.cx/img231/6962/picture0370uq.jpg |
how much were those fd housings? i know they are pretty expensive considering that when my dad rebuilt his 85 GSL 12A he went to Cory Fairbanks Mazda in Orlando, FL and ordered new housings for $400 each and new rotors for $300 each, and one of his good friends that work in the parts dept who got him the parts said that the owner of the dealership was ordering 15 sets of 12A rotor housings and rotors for the dealership itself to store them. apparrently he also said that those parts were the last 12A castings that mazda USA has. so if youre looking into rebuilding a 12A and live in Florida go to Cory Fairbanks Mazda and talk to Jamie, he'll hook you up. i would give you the address but i live in Fort Hood, Texas so i don't know how good of use i can be all the way in the mid-west.
|
I paid $800 for the housings. My friend bought them new from the dealer for about $1100 I think, but he sold his car and did'nt need them any longer.
