black dragon headlight relay upgrade

The high beams died. I isolated the problem to the relay.

Please someone look at their >>>Black Dragon Headlight Harness Upgrade

I have their harness and lights. They work great. It did run the ground from their harness all the way back to the battery.

Mine works great too!!!

The local do it yourself garage matched up the relay. And I fixed the troubled relay with some emery paper.

What I learned was the combi switch needs to be on the steering column for the lights to work. Never would of thought.

I replaced the combi switch in 1996. I was relocating clear across the country, so didn't have time to mess with fixing the original. It cost $80 from the mazda dealer. Now it costs $200-$400.

The relay is a standard auto replay that can be had at any auto parts store. Mazda should have never ran that main headlight power through the combo switch. This is why the DB harness is a good upgrade. Just make sure you have a good ground. I found that my lights where very dim because of a bad relay ground. The reason I just ran it back to the battery.

So would you guys both recommend BD's relay kit I assume? Sounds like you're pretty pleased with it!

I would recommend the harness and the price is right. The lights are good but I really don't have much to compare to except stock. It did increase brightness.

The BD headlight harness made a big difference in oem headlight's brightness. If you are comfortable with electrical relays, you could make your own for about $20. Saving $60 is not worth the trouble.

While you are at it, upgrade to HID headlights. You will see a huge difference.

Answer to my original question about which relay do I need to buy :

dorman 74-036, mr312504 , e8t10197 , ry354 , wells 20328 , carquest 56-2049 , echlin ar494 , bwd r4759

prices range from $1.99(popup ad 3 weeks after my search), to $87 Maybe there is a difference in quality???

According to autozone and advance auto, the part is discontinued or never existed. This is a ridiculous time we live in where something so simple as an electrical relay is so over specified.
