im shocked that no one has brought up ignition. A msd 6a in conjunction with new jets for my carb gave me a lot more power.

You do not change jet sizes with the STOCK carb.

11 times must be a world-record :D |
i am not terribly good with carbs so i just used what was recommended to me. This was 95 for the primaries and 170 for the secondarys. you can get a msd box anywhere, i think they run like 200 new but its not too hard to find a used one.
In regards to aico, why not? It?s my understanding that the stock 12a was made to run extremely lean for emission purposes and that by increasing jet size you can get closer to a 13:1 air fuel ratio. I do not know if the increased jet size made my car any faster because i installed the 6a while rebuilding my carb. Has anyone tried just changing the jets? |
o ya, jets from mazdatrix
|
Sooo... do you change jet sizes with a stock carb?
|
I guess not
|
damn... guess i was mistaken... then what can i do to feed the beast more gas?
|
Get a Weber?
|
flying toilet.....

will a 45mm IDA weber reek any real benifit over the nikki carb. will i see any horse power gains or will drivabilty go out the window? this will be going on a stock 12a with hi flow 2 3/4 inch exhaust.

if the air pump made no difference to power then why would Mazda change the design to a clutch type pulley on the FD so that it only operated below 3000rpm, making it basically an idler pulley above that?
The power gain would be minimal, but it is still there. |
