Best carb setup for 13B 4 port
I got a RB holley 600 on my 13B 4 port. I have a extended streetport and not that happy with this carb. What do you guys think the best carb for street use is? Thanks..
hmm i have a holley 600cfm on my 4 port 13B in my repu... when my repu ran, i loved it, that setup was so awesome, in fact the carb is going on my 6 port 13B for my GSL until i can afford the holley throttlebody/megasquirt ecu for a turbo setup...
for a 13b 4port, i would suggest going Weber 48 IDA since 4 port was made mainly for top end purposes. w/ the 48 IDA, that motor will basically scream than any other carbs out there. :)
Yah that's what I'm being told about the weber 48 IDA. I will be on the lookout for one...
Weber 48 IDA and it works awesome if you want to turbo it.

although the holley RB manifold supposedly works better for turbo when used with a holley based throttle body because they intake runners are smoother and allow more flow... just what i've heard, and i don't doubt it... oh well
I've got a Holley 465 cfm on my 13B 4 port and I like it a lot. Very smooth.
What jets are you running? Is it ported?
As for 48mm side draft carbs, my dellorto was too small for my streetported R5 (4 port) 13B. I now have a JDM Hitachi on it that actually feels a lot better than the dellorto did. I'm not sure how a Holley would perform. The Hitachi runs out of breath at about 7k, but is mild-mannered and quite easy to drive on a daily basis.

Cool. Thanks

im very happy with my rb holley 600 on my four port
of course im not sure how it would act with a street port, im going to find out within the next year though :) |

MY 411CFM Yaw carb worked awesome on my stock port 76' 13B.I used a Yaw FB intake and a 12A to 13B adaptor. It had the razor sharp response you expect from a smaller vacuum secondary carb, but it still went all the way to redline with great pull. And best of all it ran great in the morning and even in the snow or on long trips. All I had to do to change it from 12A to 13B jetting, was to up the secondary jets one size.
I would guess Sterlings carb would do an equally impressive job,if not better. |
FYI gonzz, red_blast is running 51 jets with a blocked off power valve.
Oh ok. I just installed 61's in the primaries. Everyone was saying that was to small..
I got a Mikuni Sidedraft 44 phh. Love it. NOt very streetable car, very tempermental, but tis' good.

Nevermind - 61s with no powervalve or 58s with one. Newer Holleys have an anti-backfire protection for the power valves, but for the old RB stuff you're better off using a blanking piece or just throwing a little JB weld in your power valve and opening the mains to compensate. Sounds like your setup should be buttah.

this is an opportunity for you to test different carbs Since ur coming up for sevenstock, you can take our cars for a spin (SA with 12-A sp/IDA, FB with 13-B sp/IDA). Also, maybe you can ask forum members, such as CRAD51 12-A sp with sterling carb and 84SE 6port streetport with dellorto, for a test drive. Then ride in my 3. :D |
