been busy today
It has been a while since a picture of my car has been posted. years infact. today I stripped the black paint off my wheels and detailed the replacement engine. earlier this week I painted the engine bay.

ST has some progressives... get them from mazda trix.. but i think you should put some respeed coilovers on it :D

I have wanted coil overs, but since I don't race I am not sold on the added cost for coil overs and it's benefits.

most of the people at school put coilovers on their cars... and they don't race. the reason i like coilovers is that i can change ride height to stock or lower or even lower.
Also, it really changes the character of the handling. definitely feels like more of a sports car after putting them in |
Glad to see you're back at it Richard (a.k.a. Tucker :lol::lol::lol:). I always thought that car was too nice to just sit like it has been. How about a few more pics....engine bay, interior, etc.... Is it still in the same, well cared for, condition as when you initially parted with it?

no, tucker was the dude from the usbank job.(green sharpies must die!!) the interior is out and I will need new carpet( i will be buying new). the hood looks like ass. I will be stripping and repainting it later. lots of waterspots from the exposure to the elements.

The main advantage of coilovers (if you aren't into competing) is that you can set the height exactly where you want it, even if you end up changing to different wheels etc. Also, it gives you the opportunity to choose whatever spring rates you want, from cadillac soft to racecar hard. The street version of Respeed's coilovers do not require welding, so its a pretty easy install.
The problem with most aftermarket springs is that they end up raising your car, rather than lowering it. When I put RB springs on my car, I ended up over an inch higher than before. They were firmer than the old ones, but that height just looked like ass. . |

welp I've got an Eibach prokit I'll let you have for cheap. the front springs are 171/140 i believe and the rears are 100. progressive. I loved them until I went with coilovers. pm me. car looks good. welcome back.

I want the car to look "right"....right now! In other words i don't want to wait 5 years for my springs to "break in" so that the ride height is correct. Has anyone cut their Eibach springs while new to avoid the "4 wheel drive" look?? I know the advantages and disadvantages to cutting coils....done it many times before. What i am looking for is how much to cut. Now on my new project autocrosser, I naturally want the RE speed coil overs. |
The car known as ioTus had eibachs, IIRC. Not sure if Geoff cut the springs or not, but it does not ride high.
