You will need to replace the metal heater pipe that runs from the radiator to the heater core with one from a 79-83 or GSL-SE. If you do not replace it you will only have to cap off one section of that metal line. The other coolant hoses will get replaced with the one new molded rubber hose that runs from the heater core to the coolant nipple below the oil filter. You can use a molded hose form an 81-83.

The line coming out of the heater core looks pinched, but otherwise it will work fine. I capped the end on the pipe in the 85 the I converted to an EGI engine and its been holding for 10 years.

I capped mine also. If the cap fails on that hard-line, it can be easily mig/tig welded shut.

I've got one of those springs in it to prevent it from completely pinching. If I have heater issues, I'll swap in a rubber replacement. This one was just a generic 90 degree elbow I cut to size.

thanks guys I have a good radiator and is winter so ive been think ill wait to the summer to install it cause my car harldy never passes cold unless I let it idle for like 20 mins

I am currently working on the same thing. I cant get the nut off the one that holds it to the engine. From the two I am having a hard time removing the one on the side of the firewall. There is no space to get a tool in there. Any one have some tips?

You need 21mm and 23mm wrenches for the nut that holds the steel hardline to the front cover fitting. The 21mm is required to prevent the fitting from turning and twisting the tube.

I have found the the inside wrench needs to be skinny. I had to grind one down.

I hate that they're 23mm, so hard to find decent wrenches for. I usually use a crescent wrench for the 23mm front line combined with a 21mm wrench and that does the trick.
