BC Coilovers
 

Hey guys anyone have any experience with the BC coilovers for a first gen? Not finding a ton of info on them and the spring rates seem somewhat high? https://coiloverdepot.com/collection...lovers-br-type

Are they using metric, as in 5KG/mm front and 3.5KG/mm rear? That would make sense. I'm using BC Racing Gold on my FB with 8KG/mm front and 4KG/mm rear, but I'll be changing to 6KG/mm front soon. Those rates are pretty much spot on for a street car, not too rough at all.

Ahh gotcha so would you say those spring rates would be a go for street driving? Track days are a little expensive for me right now but eventually I’d like to do it. Overall are they a good experience?

Would these just bolt right in? Also would they lift the car any?? My gut says they do bolt right in and that they would lift the car xD

edit: I found this handy information on the site: "Ride height is independently user adjustable so you can dial in the exact look to reflect your driving style and performance needs." So they do adjust height, but how much???

Of course just found this https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...-pics-1137367/ you’ll have to cut and weld the spindles and rear is not a true coil-over shock but it’s basically mounted the same way it comes stock and there is something about trimming a bump bushing down so you can go lower

Not much different than T3 or any other coilover setups for unmodified 1st gens.

Thanks for the sweet link to that Thread! I'm looking at restoring the look of my FB, but improving the performance. Coilovers seem like a nice upgrade.

Yeah they are perfect. I have front and rear subframe swaps but in terms of vehicle weight vs spring rate those are just about perfect for street use.

I also found a vid that came out today where they cut and weld on the Hoonigan build battle.

Since it was mentioned in the video that he was able to just purchase just the front coilovers from BC.

I wonder if I can purchase just the rear setup. I already have the front of my car setup with all the parts T3 sells.

Do you guys have photos of Installation? Was it a bolt in application of was the original Tubes needed?

You have to cut the bottom spindle portion off the tubes and weld on the BC tubes.

That is it! And finding a good machine shop and welding shop is critical.

The guys down here in California leave around 2 inches of the strut tube and slide the BC coilover sleeve over it and then seat and weld in the same spot as the picture above.

you leave 20MM of strut tube to slip the bc over and weld...

love the bc setup... we have done them on 3 car
