Back to stock carb and intake...MAJOR MISTAKE...help!

OK...like the title says...i just went back to the stock carb and intake...the car starts just fine right now...but when i turn it on it revvs like a mother! wtf...i tried disconnecting the throttle and messing with the idle screw...and it STILL goes nuckin futz...what would cause this??? Ill admit that i dont have all the vacuum lines properly blockd...but i highly doubt this would cause the throttle to stick (even tho its not physically sticking) and revv so goddamned high.

Is this on the stock carb you're using now, or a previous one?
The problem is very likely that your throttle is not returning all the way. Recheck your return spring, and/or make it stronger. Even 1-2mm not returning to dead stop will cause a 4-5k idle.. At least on the weber I used to have it did that.

Are all your vacuum lines connected correctly? Check that before messing with it any further.

Thats the big problem...i took out the rats nest a long time ago...then installed my RB intake and Holley carb...and now im tryin to revert back to the stock carb due to TERRIBLE gas mileage (lucky to get 10mpg). So i probably dont have all the lines blocked off correctly...but i still highly doubt that would make it revv all the way up to 7 grand...

Ummm, the holley shouldn't get that bad on a stock motor unless you floor it at all times or your jetting was waaaaaaay rich.

Thats true I got close to stock mpg with my Holley set up, unless I punched it. Keep checking those vac. lines!

Should have said its a 600cfm holley...not the RB holley...its WAY too big for this motor and i have to run it rich or it will choke itself...hence the bad gas mileage...the holley is gonna go onto a 12a 1/2 BP in a while..but i was hopin i could get better gas mileage til then.

Back out the idle speed screw. You do know theres an idle mixture, AND an idle speed screw right?

bkm_rx7 04-17-05 02:33 PM

*shrugs* i give up...guess that 12a 1/2 BP is goin in ASAP with the holley setup :D
