hey guys, its been a few years(almost 10) since i've been on this site, or owned an FB

long story short, i own a 2013 FRS, and up until yesterday owned a 2001 S2000 also. traded the S2000 for some cash and 2 84' GSL's. I know that doesn't sound great, but the first one i got in trade, is in amazing shape :), the second is a running parts car that i'm probably going to get rid of soon, as mine doesn't need any parts from it.

on to the goodies, i am the 5th owner of this car, it has been in buffalo NY all its life, and is just about to hit 54K miles

she's mostly stock, emission delete, mechanical secondaries, full racing beat exhaust, nardi wheel and some other minor things, i'll let the pictures speak for themselves

Welcome back!

50,000 miles, your steering problem is most likely the idler bushings.

Congrats. Nice color choice.

350xfire 09-17-14 05:32 PM

Like the head unit!

thats what i was hoping, from looking around here, the moog one seems like the way to go.

my buddy(who has owned my 81' for the last 10 years) is coming over tomorrow to help me figure out exactly what i need to order. he knows his way around these a lot better than i do

Get the MOOG idler arm from Mazdatrix and don't look back. Easy 2 bolt install (plus the arm cotter pin and castle nut) and you'll never have to mess with those pittman arm bushings again. Nice car, enjoy it,

You can get Burgundy spray on dye at most commercial auto paint suppliers to bring your interior back to all one color.

$111.94 from Mazdatrix? Go on Rockauto and grab it for $49:nod: haha

Good lord that thing is clean.

it was for sure well taken care of, though the paint isn't original(its the original color) and it wasn't the greatest paint job, but it will do for the next few years

today we are checking out the steering issue, dropping in a K&N filter my buddy has laying around and doesn't need(he's got an aftermarket carb) and also possibly switching the fan over to the electric one. also need to tighten up the belt a bit or see if it needs to be replaced(looking quickly it looks fairly new) as i get a squeal starting at about 6K rpm's

lots on the list!

Cameron38 09-18-14 06:32 PM

East Coast car.. No Rust?

Vitziorx7 09-18-14 08:03 PM

Wowow! Clean car man! Welcome back to the scene. Im digging the head unit.

I agree... mazdatrix doesn't seem to be a "deal". They are like going to the dealer... way overpriced. Also all my moog steering parts have grease fittings unlike the OEM ones... BTW nice ride.

yes, originally from this area, strange thing is, first reg year wasn't until 89' so either it sat in a showroom, or in someones garage

already ordered the one from rockauto(moog)

looked over the steering yesterday, i might try my hand at the steering bog adjustments(the long process one, not just adjusting the top bolt as that seems to have done nothing) after i replace the idler arm as that had a lot of up and down play to it.

i'm really hoping when i get the second rx-7 delivered tomorrow that the steering box is in better shape, i'll just swap them over and call it a day, lets hope!

Skurge 09-28-14 07:27 PM

checked out the steering box in the parts car, all good, got it all disconnected under the car, just need to get a steering wheel puller to get the wheel off so i can swap it all over to the good RX-7

also removed my clutch fan and put in an electric one, WOW what a difference, the car feels like it actually wants to move now!

How does the Moog hold up to heat. My new bushings melted due to the heat from the header.

FCinWV 09-30-14 08:21 PM

Do you already have an efan ? I have a brand new extra one for cheap if ya want. Its not a weak one either.. I have a twin of it that almost claimed my pinky toe. ( dont ask )
