baaa booom

That iis the sound my car makes everynight on my way home. I let out of the throtttle and baa baa boom and you can see a big light flash under the car. No one around here knows anything about rotaries. So i have no one to ask. I just got the car 2 weeks a ago. And it is and has been running great. But at night it cools down here and i think that is why but is ther any way i caN STOP IT. It is sorta scary to see the bright flash under the car. It is an 85 gs With 24k on a rebuilt motor. Runs good i just had new wheels and tires and a frotn sway bar. Waht can i say i just got it and i will upgrade it part by part. The exhaust has the originbal cat and heat exchange on it but the kid blew out the muffler and put a glaspac on it. Sorta sounds wierd i am gonna change to a high flow import muffler a week form friday(payday). But what is wrong and is bad, or normal?

I don't know if its wrong or bad. I've heard that glasspacks don't last any time at all on RXes because of the exhaust temps. Watch what you buy to replace it, even some of them that claim to be made for rotaries don't hold up either.

This brings back memories of my '73 RX-3 that used to embarrass the hell outa me by going "baa boom!" 10 seconds or so after shutting it off and "baa baa baa boom!" on downshifts. Sometimes after shutting it off I'd be around the back of the car by the time it went off, sounding like a 12-guage. Disconnecting the air pump and removing the rats nest seemed to get rid of the problem.
