Anyone know if the ring and pinion from a 4x114 rear end fit in the 4x110 rear end?

I am pretty sure that the ring and pinion are interchangeable for any year first gen...the part numbers are the same from Mazda I think. But before I put down a bunch of money for a set I want to make sure!

yes the ring and pinion are interchangeable... the only difference is the brg. size on the posi unit itself

Ben,
If you do in fact have an 84 or 85 Rx7, then you can use the third member from a GSL-SE. But if your call is an earlier car the laster third will not work, becuase the earlier cars have smaller axles.

My car is an 84 with a rear end marked 83...probably from a junkyard for the discs. I am just making sure the ring and pinion itself will work. I can buy a third member with a 4.44 in it, and put the ring and pinion in my rear end. The ring and pinion work for all first gens right? That is my real question.

Yes, the rind and pinon will work. If you google for "miata solo interchange" you can get an interchange chart that has part numbers that could help.

So, did you find a front third member from a four wheel drive pickup? I have been looking for one myself.
