Anyone have specs on this engine?
Came across this today....pondering buying this and putting my reuild on hold. I would like to know the power output and is that a nikki carb? Jspec?
Thanks! Justin http://www.rotaryshack.com/Engines/images/usedEng02.jpghttp://www.rotaryshack.com/Engines/p...p?intNotice=57 |
Oh nice, i wish my engine loooked that clean. Concidering it has a turbo, i would hope that thing puts out atleast 300 hp. But who knows. Nice find tho, i would like to pick one up myself. Here i go whoring again, centerfugal supercharger? Anyone have a kit or am i going to have to make one myself.

Looks like a JDM FI turbo 12a to me. I think it was about 140 or so hp.

forgot to mention that its on the rotaryshack website, 12a.
Only 140hp? Jeebz |
I wonder how it would be with an intercooler... Are you sure its Fuel injected?
|
i wonder how hard it would be to find the externals for those motors...and then convert your 12a to 12a turbo with fuel injection....are the blocks the same?
but its definately the japan 12a turbo with fuel injection...and i do believe 140 hp |
about a week ago, i think robert posted that he hadn't seen one of those in his shop in about a year and also said it would be easier and cheaper to turbo a carb'd stock 12a.

i thought i saw something around those lines lol

I always thought it was 160hp. Even so the 12a jspec turbo had no intercooler so slap one of those on and you will be at 160 for sure.
It is a great base engine to start with. No turbo prping BS or any of that. Just swap and go. You can also do a bit of fiddling and probably bring teh engine up to around 200-250hp easy. |

It's not a simple bolt-in exercise, being efi you will have to upgrade to a high pressure fuel system with surge tank. The analogue ecu will need replacing with a digital fuel only ecu such as a Microtech LT4, and locking the dizzy. Adding a front mounted intercooler will allow boost to be increased giving more power but only advisable if the engine is in good condition, while a better header and exhaust will be needed. This should get you 200hp. It is certainly far more than a bit of fiddling. To get decent power above that you will need a bigger turbo, street port, two more injectors, plus a light flywheel, stronger clutch, and possibly a 13BT gearbox. Not forgetting a BOV and RRR. If it's going into an FB its best to go to a FMOC with the shorter SA radiator. The se back end is an advantage as is a fuel/ignition ecu. |

Eh! Poop! I think I will be sticking to my original plan :) Rebuild, port, sterling then eventually blow through turbo.
