I am going to stop by today at lunch to see what they want for the wing. SOunds like more than one person may want it. And the seats, and the airpump, and the brake booster, and the hatch struts, and the rear end, and the engine, and the trans, and the dashboard, and.....
I may ask what they want for the whole car...
where would I get a float.....

BRealistic 04-17-03 01:27 PM

Jeez, I could have just picked parts off the car by now. But I don't steal. I finally found out who owns those cars, and he is out of town until next week.

XXXXXXXXX UPDATE XXXXXXXXXXX

I just checked again, and the guy who owns the wrecked seven will be back in the morning. Just for sh/ts and giggles, I will stop by there this evening after work and take some pixs of the seats and dash and engine compartment- just in case something there is needed by somebody.
Several people have expressed interest in the wing, and I will try to be fair. I will post info here about it as soon as I can (price and shipping/packaging), then it will be first come first serve (if anybody still wants it. People are fickle these days).

peace, Bryan.

I finally got a chance to look at car in very good sunlight (instead of late evening).
Took some pixs:

I was able to remove most of the broken glass from the seats to look at them better. They are not torn, but the fabric is firm, and the driver's seat is worn. The driver's window is busted, and letting the elements in- the drivers seat had somuch broken glass in the recline lever, it seemed to stick- maybe some rust? Maybe a good cleaning will make then nice- don't know. Sorry for the blurred pic- I was hurried and it is hard to see the little lcd in the sunlight. The door panels are kinda rough, but the passenger door is actually usable (sorry, picture didn't turn out). The dash is not cracked. The rear strut covers are not cracked (based on what I saw).

ooops, a couple more pixs I forgot:

If they willing to part it out, I'd be interested in the sunroof if it was rust free. Mine's got some rust, that I'm afraid will cause problems even if repainted. I think rusting on the inside.

And I would expect you to tack on a few bucks for yourself. No one here should expect you to do this for free. My zip is 15640...

BRealistic 04-22-03 10:18 AM

OWNER CAN'T PART OUT DUE TO LEGAL RESTRICTIONS.

Ok, this is actually a tow company parking lot of mainly abandoned vehicles. He can only sell it whole, not allowed to part it out. He will deliver car to my driveway for 150$(!?). Well, I don't know if I want the car in my driveway, even though I have enough room. He also said that this car was abondoned in an apartment parking lot, so it was driven after being wrecked. where does that leave the engine? This could have a completely ruined engine if it lost coolant and over heated. But everything looked intact under the hood. He said it has been sitting 3 months. I don't know exactly what I want to do at this point. I already have an extra trans, but the extra rear end could be useful becuase of the miles on mine, but this one still has 144k (if the speedo was still working until the end). I could buy it to rebuild the engine and for extra parts. But I would want to strip everything useful and crush it instead of leaving it in my driveway....
any suggestions?

yeah, I am seriously thinking about it. I am going to need a blower motor (mine makes clicking noise sometimes- prbably birdcage fan missing blades)- assuming this car has a good one. Then I need an air pump, and having an extra engine to mess with would be educational.:D

///update///

Well, I purchased the parts car (I want the engine, and a few other parts). The rear wing is off the car (had to cut the rusted bolts- only three were still being used). Somebody offered a few bux + shipping for the wing last week before I purchased the car, and unless they back out then it is sold. If they back out, then I will post updated pixs of the removed wing. I cleaned it with Naptha and sprayed it with some primer I had lying around yesterday so it would be easier to see the surface in pictures.

Any other parts that people are interested in, please feel free to ask. Just because I purchased the parts car doesn't mean I expect much over shipping cost for other parts.

Is the dash actually cut where the radio would go? I thought the dash was one piece all the way down to around the shifter.

I will check. I haven't had to remove or work on the dash yet (a good thing), so I don't know.

Nah, I was judging by the pic. It should be plainly obvious if it's cut.

CUT!
Sorry, I wasn't trying to mislead anybody. I looked at the top of dash, and didn;t even realize it went down solid along the sides of console. Why did they take a hack saw to a perfect dash?!?!?! Well, what's left is nice if anybody wants it. Again, I am sorry- I was not trying to mislead anybody.:(

You have a PM...

So its not first ask, first choice on the wing? Thats pretty messed up. You asked if anyone wanted it, I replied 2 times that I did, also was the first one who said they wanted it, and I never heard from you, now, I see that you are selling it to someone else. That just doesn't seem right to me. I guess I am still reserving my judgment until I can see a reply from you.

I am trying to be fair. I received PM's about the wing before I even posted this thread. Then after, and people mentioned on the thread that they were interested. The first PM, well he decided that it wasn't his style. Then everybody wanted it at cost, but I couldn't buy just the wing. One guy PM'd several several times, then he PM'd me with a price(25$)+shipping offer- before I even purchased the parts car. What is fair? Now that I paid for the car, I must have more than just shipping cost.
I didn't reply to PMs before because I didn't have the wing. I wasn't able to contact the person who owned the wreck until Tuesday of last week, and didn't decide to buy it until Friday. How can I reply and make promises if I don't know myself? I am a nube at this stuff, and in retrospect I shouldn't have posted the wing info/pics until I knew what they cost of the wing would be.
Currently, the guy that wants it may not have enough to pay for the wing and shipping, since PakMail wants over $28 to ship and another $15+tax for the "special box". I may be able to create a shipping box from some old computer boxes I have, but am not sure if they will accept it.
I have already put some time in the wing that I originally didn't plan to. I cleaned it with naptha and primered it with some left over primer- several cans with a little left of sandable primer. But I noticed yesterday that parts were still sticky. SO I checked the cans- one was not sandable primer.:o: SO I sanded (and am sanding) the primer back off. Sandable primer is the only primer from a can that will work with actual quality auto paint. The only reason I did this was to better show the surface- which has some undulations (small dents?) that will require some surface work to make a shiny paint job loog good. Oh, and I had to cut off the mounting bolt- they were rusted solid with the nuts.

slag 04-29-03 01:11 PM

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation and Pm.

Joe
