Sorry but I dont recommend butchering a nice flooring. But if its rusted out, sure why not. But thats just me.

Nice install and write-up. But I'm not too keen on having a fuel pump inside the passenger compartment, even if it's in the storage bin area.

I understand what you're saying and gave that a lot of thought, but i decided that this will be ok, because the motor is in the storage bin...the fuel handling is below the floor line. I might try to build a sealed enclosure for it though, just to be sure.

You know, Tractor Supply has hole saws that go up to 4 3/8... The yare pricy though so this way worked out pretty good for you since it is only a one time thing. One time until the next time when you do it to my car that is hehe. Looks good man, definately better than my current setup.

What is the factory fuel PSI compared to the Mallory pump?

I don't know what the factory is, but the Mallory 110 is adjustable from 4 to 12.

it will work there ok but the pump should located below the fuel tank or at the same level since the pump is gravity fed

It's actually at almost exactly the same level as the stock unit.

i dont think he had to drill too big of a hole in a floor, there is 2 holes that are about 1x1 already there, or atleast mine has 2 behind each seat. looks like factory hook ups or something.

The fuel pump should NOT be that far away from the gas tank. You're going to take a lot of years out its life doing this.

Well, ok...where would you suggest I mount it? I don't see anywhere this pump will fit any closer. And it's in exactly the same place as the original pump.

Frame rail looks nice...just have to move the roll-over valve and re-do the lines. But you got to do this, anyway, right?

Where on the frame rail?? Check out this site where I document the installation and take note of the size of this pump.

Keep in mind that I needed to install a fuel filter that's even larger (in diameter anyway) than the pump. Also keep in mind that the pump needs to be installed vertically. Trust me...I looked at the frame rail and couldn't see a way to make it work. But then, I'm by no means a fabricator, so if you can set me straight and show me some photos of how it should be done, I'd be more than happy to re-do it.

With the other pump out and the brackets gone, you got a nice place on the frame rail for a plate. And then the pump bolts onto that. Well, when it had its original bracket in place anyway!

Hmmm...sorry, but I don't see where I can gain any distance between the pump and the tank. Maybe you aren't seeing the position in the photos properly...I MIGHT be able to gain an inch or 2, but that's it. The rear axle is between the pump and the tank, and I don't want to be too close to that, and I have to be able to mount a good sized filter between the tank and the pump. I don't see the point. I'm not trying to be defensive...I really don't know how I could get it significantly closer to the tank.

I'll have to go to my friend's house and see his car again. He's doing something like this and we spent a day back there replacing springs and bushings and measured stuff. What type of cooling is the motor going to get having trapped air in the bin?

Well now, there's a fair question, and one I hadn't thought of. Hopefully it won't be an issue, but I'll have to keep tabs on it.
