any *ATTRACTIVE* body kits/custom hoods for 1rst gen??

Can anyone recommend any attractive body kits and custom hoods for a 79 rx-7? The ones that I have seen are either ugly or look dated.

Now there's a good looking 1st gen body kit! Where did you get it? Also, do you know if I can get one to fit an '84 GS?

Vohaul 07-25-02 02:32 AM

this is the stock IMSA front airdam....for 81-up

IMHO, one of the best.......

im adding the sideskirts and rear surround soon....

VaSSagO 07-25-02 04:10 AM

I just picked up some side skirts, rear wrap around spoiler and rear skirting from the wreckors for $150 aus. I already have an Rx-7 bonnet scoop on the hood which was $60 aus. I will post some pics as soon as i have it put on.

You can kinda see the bonnet scoop in this photo

Here's my RX7. I purchased it new in the Fall of 1981. What do you think?

apremdas 07-25-02 10:49 AM

Here's another pic from another angle.

apremdas, i think that is one of the best body kits i have seen, and that maroon Turbo'ed FB is also awsome.. i just dont jump up and down for white.. i dunno, i have always disliked that color... but its nice..

they were on there when i bought the car (one of the selling points). it needs a rear valance though. you can be the pieces at www.mazdatrix.com. the airdam will be a bit different since you have an fb. its version is right above mine so you can compare and see what you like. the wing is a 3 piece wrap around. good looks and functionality without being a glaring standout. sideskirts are, well, sideskirts.

Defprun 07-26-02 05:29 PM

No valances please :D I love the IMSA airdam. Give me that and some side arches and I'm set! Maybe MAYBE a touring wing later...if i need it.

Magnus,,, what kind of mirrors are those ( side mirrors) ?
are they electric, ?

Mr. ImportGuy 11-03-02 12:35 PM

They look to be maybe porsche. Maybe 944 mirrors?

rotary emotions 11-03-02 02:42 PM

The side mirrors on Magnus car are stock electric mirrors, I have the same. Well, I had, as I swapped for US-ones recently. The ones one Magnus car are European ones as far as I know.

Search for bodykit with my user name, me and alex posted some very nice pics

Magnus Berglund 11-04-02 12:02 AM

Yes, they are electric.. it's the Mazda stock mirrors.
I know that all rx7's sold in sweden (83-85) had thoses... mine are not working as all my electics are from an 84 car without powermirrors..
I have a pair just like these painted in H1 (sparkling black) if anyone is intresseted.. but remember... I live in Sweden.

What sort of airdam is on that barneymobile? It actually looks nice.

Magnus, as far as I now, all the cars came with complete wiring, so it should be rather plug and play... Even if the '84 didn't have the wiring it's not that difficult. I'm getting working ones as soon as my car's out of the paintshop (can't wait to finally see the results!), as the ones I have on there aren't working either. The builder cut the wires of!!! So I have pair of those like on your car extra too. I got US ones now.
BTW US mirrors are actually not allowed in Europe, as they are solid mounted, where as the EU versions are flexible. When hit they flip inside, against the sidescreens.

The same one that is on my car. It looks a lot better body color than it does black.

I had mine blue originally, but it wasn't the same shade as my car, so I changed it to flat black.

Pedestrian X 11-04-02 11:20 AM

yea, i like that front air damn how its further back on that big. and still lets the pointy nose be pointy thats one of m y favourtie parts abotu the car is that pointy nose hehe is there any air damn mebbe like a large front lip or a very small air damn thats a bit smaller then that but back there aswell?
