Another new owner
Well I picked up a 85 GSL with 64,700 miles. It feels weird to once again drive a Rx7. I had a 83 limited edition many many years ago.
Anyways I took the new car to the smog shop to get tested and low and behold she failed the CO badly. I decided to take it to a local mazda only shop to have them look at it since I do not really trust the smog shop that tested it. I wish I had gone somewhere else in the beginning but is a little late now. So should know tomorrow morning whats wrong with it and hopefully will not be too darn expensive to fix it. |
Damn smog tests!

I hate them as well.

welcome to the family rich, hope you can get her to pass emmisions...

Ok here's what i do......Transfer the tags from a good passing car ie your wifes minivan to the rx-7, then the next day go in and re-register your minivan! do the same thing every year!...Or go get it tested and run eithel alcohol in with you gas. (put a lot in the tank and mix gas with it) just put in enought to get you to the testing center and back to a gas station. Good luck oh yeah and run the test with the choke wide open.

Well sure hoping is only a bad oxygen sensor or something small and inexpensive to fix. It sure is nice to have another RX7. I have wanted another one for years and could not pass up this one with such low mileage. I just hope nothing wrong internally with the engine. I changed plugs, cap & rotor in hopes that would make it pass smog. The plugs were shot which is probably why it ran like crap. It runs alot better now.
