Anniversary X Edition FB??? on ebay.

I've never ever heard of this type of FB, however i have a feeling its very rare, so for you FB collectors, you ,ay wan to check ou tthis auction, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1845949117

The interior seems to be the most different from other FB's and the rims, honestly FB's don't attract me much, buit this one I like...alot.

Keaponlaffen 07-24-02 02:40 AM

Looks just like my car, a '79 GS

interior is the same, mine used to have the same rims, the decals are all the same other than the "Anniversary X" one...

only one difference - the stereo, but I've never seen a stock '80 one...

I like the chin spoiler. I think that's the Mazda part I was trying to locate last week - doeswn't look like it'll fit an '85 though.

Wattz 07-24-02 01:49 PM

Looks like a piece to me.

I'd only buy it if i was gonna spend lots of money restoring it.

357 07-24-02 03:09 PM

Well, it's definitely an '80. but 10th anniversay of what ?

357 07-24-02 03:14 PM

Not only that, but take a look at the far left gauge cluster. I've never seen anything like that before. It almost looks like they eliminated one of the three standard ones and put in an analog clock in its place.

zyounker 07-24-02 03:16 PM

Um i believe it is a Limited edition mazda put out..

I believe the difference is the clock?

Anyone remember?

357 07-24-02 03:20 PM

Sorry, i was being stupid, the clock really was in the instrument cluster until 1981. However, all of the limited edition models were all painted black, so unless its been repainted, which it doesn't look like, then there's more to this than meets the eye

Keaponlaffen 07-24-02 04:29 PM

My dash is exactly the same, other than the Stereo, but like I said, I've never seen an '80 stock stereo. I'd say steer clear of this one... It gives me bad vibes, don't know why...

TriTurboGen3 RX-7 07-25-02 12:33 AM

Ohh i c, i wasn't posting this to see if it would be a good buy, just figured some of you guys might be intrested in it, as i had nevre heard of a Anniversary FB. I'm More of a FC guy, but i Love any car with a rotary engine.

zyounker 07-25-02 08:32 AM

Well tri, it would be an SA.. but lets not get picky :)

I thought they where all black.. but looking at the picture i see the clock..

Maybe he had it re-painted.. but it would be a limited not a X Anniversary

That Anniversary badge looks like some shit you would buy at AutoZone. I also doubt Mazda would have used a Roman numeral. Not to mention there is no ''Mazda'' on the badge anywhere, they put their name on almost every badge on the car. Plus the real 10th Anniversary RX-7 was an 88 TII :D

knight1976 07-25-02 08:41 AM

Nope not a limited. Limited have different rims and all cloth seats i believe. And they were all balck on black.

Keaponlaffen 07-25-02 01:33 PM

Notice the same clock in my '79 GS, except mine have my homemade white faced guages... but the clock is the same...

And the exterior, minus the spoiler, air dam, and side skirts...

And another...

And finally....

My winter beater '86 S10 that's taking all my time away from my baby (rex)....

This could easily be some kind of promo from some dealership in the day. Dealerships often do stuff like stick special badging on cars to sell them. Anyways, if there's no record of this car and no-one knows what it is (except for the seller who seems very confident that it is rare and valuable) it cant be worth much now can it.

rx-7girl 07-25-02 02:13 PM

the paint looks like mine did before somebody ruined it .........*goes to run off and cry*

I've read much literature on this Anniversary Edition and it was in fact manufactured by Mazda. As to the 'Anniversary X Edition' this could mean either one of two things - the one year anniversary of the Rx-7, thus making the 'X' useless, or the tenth anniversary of the 'R' series for Mazda rotaries. I believe it's the latter half of my inference. Any other thoughts?

RXcetera 07-25-02 03:22 PM

Do you have any of this literature? I've never heard of it...

And a one year anniversary?! What's up with that?

Mazda celebrated its 10 years on the US market with special anniversary editions of the RX-7, as well as the 626 and GLC. Availability was to be limited to 8,000 cars nationwide (though exact mix among models was not specified), and all three models were outfitted in the same livery: a new color, Mazda Renaissance Red (for Mazda's "rebirth" in the US, thanks to the GLC, 626, and RX-7), pinstriping, and a medallion with the Roman numeral "X". The Anniversary RX-7 was based on the "GS sunroof" model and included specific upholstery on new "competition style" seats, a 4-speaker AM/EM sound system, inside remote controls for the dual outside rearview mirrors, and the otherwise optional aluminum alloy wheels.

interesting. I saw those rims on an FB 83-85 RX-7, I guess that's why they looked so frikkin' weird to me. They were from an SA!

I'd buy it but I'm too lazy.
