It looks like a screen you put in windows.... It's ugly.

calvinpaul 09-26-04 06:46 PM

hmm, I'll give you 99 cents for it...

Max7 09-26-04 07:14 PM

Your over paying, I got some old screen you can have for free!
I bet the mounting kit is some nice zip ties!

Screen over a opening at of any kind is going to reduce your air flow into you radiator-oil cooler. I did CFM air flow testing for 36" and 48" fans for the poultry industry a few years ago, and the most air flow are box fan without any screen at all.

last time i checked this wasnt called rotarysnobsclub.com

Anex 570 09-26-04 07:40 PM

Whats better though, something that you can actually clean out the crap off from, or just let it all stick in your radiator and oil cooler? Its an ok idea, some people might need something like it to keep all the harmful crap out that comes with driving on nice days. We all dont live in California eaither..

Mr BiG G 09-26-04 08:25 PM

guys give the guy a break....but i think 25 for that is way too much.

You are missing the point, installing any size screen over you air opening is going to restrict the amount of air that enters the radiator area. How many manufactures install screen over their air openings?

Racing I did install 3/8" screen on road courses that had lots of gravel that could hit the radiator during a long race. I mounted it directly infront of the radiator for those tracks. But for the street, the stop and go traffic you would want maximun air flow.

A guy down the street last summer Honda picked up a plastic grocery bag on the freeway, and before he knew what was happening his temperature gauge peg out. The front air dam with fine mesh screen provided a very good seal from allowing any air to enter his radiator. I guess we are always at risk of this type of incident.

When leaves get all plugged up in the radiator, it creates the same effect...

I'd think upsizing the radiator and fans would help get over the screen, and the screen would protect your expensive radiator from rocks and getting plugged up with leaves and shit...

YOU ASKED...HAMMERED DOG SHIT. A GOOD IDEA BUT THE WRONG MATERIAL. I'D BE AFRAID TO SPRAY IT TOO HARD WITH THE WATER HOSE. NEEDS TO BE MORE RIGID AND WITH LARGER HOLES ( SO THAT "CHUNKY" AIR CAN GET THROUGH IT BETTER :rlaugh:

mikewood 09-26-04 10:03 PM

i fucking scrubed it today hard, and then hit it with the water from the hose, how could you guys have any clue what strength or type of material it is, the mesh is aluminum metal, not window screen and the holes are big 1/4" square. like i said i didnt know this was a rotary snob site, i thought i was a place for people with a common intrest and a good atitude. moreover this is my hobby, tinkering with my rx7: and it makes me happy and seems to add peace in my stress filled life. maybe someday when im cool enough i might be accepted by you guys, until then i will find a better site.

Max7 09-26-04 10:24 PM

You came in asking about a product you wondered about, turns out your here to promote your own sales.
Not what I'd call a nice thing to do. You want to sell stuff, get a banner and pay for it!

nevarmore 09-26-04 10:31 PM

I was trying to be nice and point out some simple message borad etiqutte (that applies everywhere not just here) and an alternative product. The F1 race didn't go like I wanted it to so now I'm feeling outright mean.

Here is some aluminum mesh with 1/4" openings that will handle all sorts of leaves and hosing off: http://ts.smoothcorp.com/cornerhardw...7.374x465.jpeg

680RWHP12A 09-26-04 10:32 PM

i think it looks like shit!

DAVID GRIMES 09-26-04 10:34 PM

Hey, man. Take it easy. You did ASK ! If it's rigid and is 1/4" openings and is attached well, then I'd say I would only paint it black. Then it would do. As for whether the price is right, I realize that if you are pre-cutting exactly right AND supplying the installation method / material, then it has the potential of being totally cool.

How's that ? Better ? No snob here...

DAVID GRIMES 09-26-04 10:36 PM

By the way, nice looking car. Mine looked EXACTLY like that until 1986.
