For all rally 7 lovers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqayodyRsTI This is the best video ive ever seen. Makes me want to take my beater FB out on some backroads:egrin:

Thanks for posting that, I needed that tonight.
|
Your welcome. I can watch that vid for 1000 times and it never gets old. Those where the good days of rally.
|
Positively the most "get up off the couch and do something about it" video I've seen. I was born in the wrong generation. I want to be there in the gallery back in 1980whatever. Better yet in the driver's seat.

awesome!

Another good one, has some music but awesome commentary on the mental FB going up against the AWD monsters

I love the pronunciation "Maazda" Rx-7. Sounds like a mix from a Southie (Boston) and an English accent. Bad-ass video (and driving).
|
And some think drifting is a 'new' sport. Excellent vids, thanks for posting.

Great find, cheers!

A 7 with this bodykit is for sale now. For you guys a bit far away i guess because it's in Holland: http://www.speurders.nl/overzicht/un...ml?q=mazda+rx7
asking price about $2000 We (dutch rx-7 club) found it ugly but now seeing this clip it all comes together:nod: Marc |

repost
In before the move to the non-technical section... |
Proof that even if you drive like a complete toolbag, you can still get a lot of attention...
I first saw this posted on a rally site, it was used as proof that RX-7s make really shitty rally cars. |
Why would you say its proof that they are shitty cars for rally. Is it because they are drifting all the corner and not trying to grip or what?
|
I wouldn't say it's bad, but definitely outdated, even in the 80's.

It's not about "drift" or "grip" or other useless Initial D concepts. Anyway, on the same forum, a video of the Sierra Cosworth was posted - same rally series, same toolbag-like driving, same serious overdriving leading to slow corner exits and spins, but somehow it's not "OMG the RX-7 is too short and unstable to be a good rally car" and instead "Wow that looks badass!" Whatever. Toolbags drive like toolbags, and sideways is still slow, no matter where you're driving. Andrew Havas is one of this nation's better RWD pedalers. Notice that he doesn't get very sideways even on gravel or snow. Neat lines are fast lines. Sure, it *looks* sideways, but bear in mind two things: Tires get maximum traction at a certain slip angle. On loose surfaces, the slip angle is compounded by the fact that the ground is constantly rolling out from under you. Notice that even on snow, he's driving less visually sideways than the toolbag in the Group B car on tarmac. That angle just happens to be where maximum traction is attained. This is why concepts of "grip" and "drift" are useless. (BTW - It's an SA, not an FB. Officially it's a 1979 RX-7. The body's been redone a few times) |
Oh thanks for clearing that up. You have to admit that it is definately fun video to watch though. Also does Havspeed still run a first gen?
|
i enjoyed the video clips. thanks.
