air/fuel adjustment for "85 (12A)
 

While performing a tune-up on my '85 (12A engine), I mistakenly adjusted the air/fuel mixture screw instead of the idle screw. I do not remember the number of revolutions that I rotated the screw. Needless to say, the engine is not performing well.

I would like to set the air/fuel mixture screw to its stock setting, but going to the dealership is out of the question. I would like to approximate the setting by hand tighting the screw and, then, rotate it 360 degrees (clockwise) to its stock position.

What is the air/fuel mixture's stock position? How many 360 degree clockwise rotations are required to approximate the aforementioned stock position? I know this information is not in any tune-up book but any assistance would be helpful.

Clockways is turning the screw in, counter-clockwise is out...

With that said, turn the screw clockwise all the way in. Then, take it back out about 3 - 3 1/2 full turns. I think that should get you in the right area. After that, according to the manual, you are supposed to turn the screw clockwise in until the engine "hunts", then bring it back out counter-clockwise to smooth it out again. I hope that helps ya.
