air conditioiner removal ?

hey guys..the saga continues with my FB... im working on removing the AC compressor and its piping, wanted to know if anyone else has done this and what order you took the stuff out in... so far i have the collant pipe disconnected from the firewall on the upper right of the car, but i cant locate the one for the hose going to the front of the car, and i cant get the hose connector off of the compressor.. ive got the compressor off the mount also, but cant get it out because the hoses are in the way.

Ok, I haven't actually taken the compressor off, but I have taken the hoses off (actually they're off right now, having a new high side line put on). To get at the other fitting, you'll need to take off the upper radiator shroud, which is a piece of black metal sitting nominally parallel to the hood immediately in front of the main radiator. This is held on with 6 10mm screws. Remove the 6 screws holding this on, and remove the shroud. The fitting you are looking for is the one on the upper left side of the A/C heat exchanger (the fitting is on the far left side of the radiator shroud, near the top). The hose will require some monkeying to get out, as it is very stiff, and snakes around a lot of other stuff, but it is possible to get it out without removing any of the other hoses. I hope this helps!

thanks for the help...

i need to block off the ports where i took the hoses off of after im done correct?

err hmm i see how it works now, what all hoses do i need to take off / should i keep the heat exchanger united / what hose should i replace the AC hose with if i remove the compressor... this is the first time ive done a mod like this, and its new to me... the AC system isnt linked into the radiator / engine cooling system is it?

ITs linked to soemthing that looks like a radiator infront of the radiator. Basically the way i did it was to pull off all of the hoses and everything until i just had 2 plugs on the firewall, then i capped them. Simple and easy.

thanks, thats what i wanted to know :)

yeah, thats how I did it too. 'cept for the part about capping the plugs.

getting to that piping in the front is a pita. don't remove the cooler for the PS; you might confuse it for part of the A/C system. I think getting the radiator-looking thing (condenser?) out is easier if you remove the panel on the top right in front of the fan. It comes off with like 4 bolts.
