Aftermarket motor mounts who sells them
 

i have looked at many sites and havnt had much luck
banzai has urethane mounts for 110$ and mazdatrix also sells a competion set for the same price

i have seen on the board some one sellin solid aluminium ones and i think they were cheaper can anyone help me out

solid aluminum mounts will rattle the whole car. If you're looking for something with a high durometer, use the old school hot rod trick of drilling holes in Hockey Pucks.

That is it as far as options go...
I personally used the ones from Mazdatrix. They are from Mazda and were used on their race cars..

Hockey pucks rock. I'm running them in both my FB and my REPU. I wouldn't use anything else now.

Hockey pucks work really well. The vibes are slightly more noticeable than with competition motor mounts but less than solids. I wouldn't run solid mounts again.

I just installed a set of hockey pucks in my brother's FB. I have another set that will probably go in the GLC. Another set is planned for the REPU.

Using the pucks, do reuse any of the old metal parts?

I used some pucks to raise the cab on my F-150. I put a newer cab on it, and for some reason it sat lower than the bed.

can some one post pics of the paticular pucks when i looked in the local sports store they only had soft plastic ones is there a special name for these paticular pucks.. i come from sunny new zealand where we dont have ice skating lol not very familia withem

You're looking for the hard rubber ones. Look for ones that say "official NHL".

I used a couple of pieces of metal plate with the puck sandwiched between them, with a few washers so the engine sits at the correct angle.

Those Noltecs look like they would work good, but $252. is too much (for me anyway).

The pucks percent found were $1.99 each. I'm no mathmagician but that's some pretty significant savings if you already have the metal plate kicking around, and a couple bolts and washers. Plus they move less so there's no need for a torque restrictor catch.

Hey I drove the FB for the first time today and the hockey pucks felt great! Perhaps even better than percent's car. I made a slight improvement in design over the ones in percent's car. The only thing that changed was the top plate. It was replaced by a 1/4" thick aluminum plate. This is not only slightly lighter, but there's no need for washers between the front mount bar and the top plate of the puck. It gives a larger contact patch, and being aluminum, might help in other ways vibration-wise. Not sure about that last part, but they sure turned out great!

Brilliant! I was thinking of making it lighter when I asked about reuseing the original steel parts.
Iv'e been thinking about making the engine bracket(the pc between the mounts) with aluminum/alum angle. Could be much lighter, esp if you used a torque brace similar the one RB offers.

The front mount bar is pretty light already.

Not sure if anyone mentioned that Mazdatrix sells competition mounts which are stiffer than stock but not so stiff that everything in the car vibrates. I am not much for solid mounts so I with with these on my cosmo swap, and I like the output of them with not alot of vibrate at all.

The Mazdatrix mounts are made by Racing Beat. They say they're 40% stiffer than stock. If that's the case, I'd put hockey pucks at around 60% stiffer than stock. The vibration still isn't bad, pretty similar to the RB mounts, just with a bit less engine movement.

never would have thought of using hockey pucks...At a $1 and some change thats one hella of deal...Im picking me up some tomorrow and hope to post some pics up here in the next few days or on my build thread...

wow i started laughing at the whole hockey puck thing but when i saw the pic i was pretty pleased with the look over all...

Raceers have been using hockey pucks since the 60's... I've seen them used to body lift 4x4 trucks, big block v8 engine mounts, and I have seen them used in 7's since the late 80's. I've used them in a few of my 7's.
