advice?????

I have a number of cars, I have a spec racer, and a gsl-se, an 86 se, a few gs's and gsl's. Some run, some for parts. I want to make a 1st gen sleeper and since I am new to the rotary scene, (Porsche guy), I want to know what gives the most bang for the buck? Porting, turbo, supercharger?
Goals would be 13 sec or better, good handling and reliable.
Suggestions??
Please don't slam me because I am sure this question is asked all the time. (As it is on the porsche boards)

how in the hell did you come by all of that yet you're new to this. damn. anyway, i'd vote streeport turbo 13b. then suspension. depending on how much of a sleeper, stay with stock looking rims but wider. 205 front and 225 rear. no body kit of course. a lot of people here have been wanting to see a 3rd gen motor put into a 1st gen. all suggestion as i'm sure the go fast guys will be here shortly...............

Jeremy why a 3rd gen 13b-REW. The cosmo 13b-RE is like over a 1000 cheaper, and its basically the same motor. Well its got smaller door stops , ooops I mean twin turbos. Jerk them POS's off there and get a nice single, but has way bigger Intake ports... Out of my set up i hope to have close to 350 at the rear wheels. Damn and wheres my digital camera, I can show my progress.

Well anyways, talk to bryan at BNR supercars (link at the top of our forum) he can set you up with a motor, and turbo etc... Streetported 13b, and a nice single with other little goodies, could get you over 400 rwhp at about $7k :)

there you have it. i just said the 13brew due to the interest shown in this section on throwing one in the bay. i wonder why the 3rd gen guys haven't started using cosmo engines for replacements?

Thats a good question... I see all the time they are saying i was looking at this and that FD and it has 60k miles, 6k on the motor etc etc. What is wrong, with the motors are they junk? or someone dont know how to drive? I really dont know why that is true, I just see all the time, FD's with less than 90k on them and a new motor..No OFFENSE, intended Im just really really curious?

The candle that burns twice as bright lasts half as long.

The third Gens COOK the engines in the engine compartent. Twin Turbos, bad airflow, and Rotary exhaust heat kills them fast. The fist mods to 3rd Gens is usually reliablity mods, to compensate for the bad designs. One of the best upgrades for a third Gen is a vented hood.

Yep, besides what I mentioned above, people do rag on the car substantially to begin with. According to my tuner, he won't put a J-Spec thrid gen in any car without rebuilding it first. They usually are too far gone. Now the Cosmo engines...Automatic, Less Boost in stock form.. Ahh...

It doesn't *really* have larger ports. Internally the port sizes are are the same as 13BT, 13BREW's. The Intake ports are larger only because the Cosmo intake comes at a Steeper/narrower angle into the engine, so to keep the same airflow, Mazda made it larger, and more angled. The exhaust ports usually have some f@$ed up sleeves though (like mine). They were designed with different turbos and set up for Torque rather than top end HP.

For porting, it is also better because there is less to remove.

Supercharge one of the GS or GSL, put a new exhaust on it, and port the engine.
