AC Delete, loud ticking 81 GSL video evidence

So, I removed the ac condenser and the whole nine yards minus the wiring and core. Also removed the AC ring on the crank pulley.

Replaced the water pump, and that's definitely not where this noise is coming from.

The crank pulley is wobbling significantly, the tighter the belts, the louder it gets. I'm thinking that without the opposing force to balance the pull that used to be the compressor, that may be the culprit?

I'm totally lost.

Here's a video

**eccentric shaft pulley**

Did you remove the big bolt in the center of the pulley at all that holds it to the eccentric shaft? I can't tell from the video, but do you still have the smog pump?

Nope, only removed the 4 bolts to get the AC ring off. Didn't re-install them either, that's what the problem was.

On my Volvo it's all one piece and that's what I was thinking. Didn't realise the belt pulleys bolted on in sequence as opposed to being a one piece. (like the Volvo which is what I'm used to)

Thanks anyways, sorry for thread clutter.

If you did not reinstall the 4 bolts on the lower pulley, there is nothing holding it on but friction. The big bolt secures the eccentric shaft hub and not the big pulley.

Well I gave them a gentle pry with a wrench and they're seated on there well enough on one spot apparently.. I'm surprised they didn't fly off and cause major damage to anything.. I'm lucky.

Also, any tips on Water or ATF treatment, I'm new to carburettors and am not sure how to perform either of these. I'm sure it's similar to sea foam but like I said, I'm only familiar with FI systems. I read somewhere that using a spray bottle on an open carb works, but there wasn't much detail.

(don't want to start a new thread for such a simple question)

again, sorry for newb-ism.

Some people have used water or ATF to dissolve carbon build up on the rotors. Neither will do anything for the carb. In my opinion, stick with Seafoam in the gas to help with carbon buildup and clean the fuel system.

Decent! Doesn't run too badly, cars been sitting for a while so I'll just keep the fuel system clean and replace the fuel filter etc.

Thanks!

A few shots of aerosol carb cleaner down the throat while running won't hurt in helping to keep the carb clean, either.

Will do that thanks!
