89 stock header to 12a exaust.... how much work?
 

How much work would be involved in connecting these two things. What exactly do I have to do?

Your question is rather vague. I can only assume that you are installing a 2nd Gen. 13B in a 1st Gen. car, but I have to ask why don't you mount an actual header instead of the stock exhaust manifold?

sorry for the confusion, I am installing an 89 second gen engine in my 85 GS. I'm going to start the install in 2 weeks. I allready have the stock exaust manifold (i got it when I purchased a package of all the engine parts besides the core itself) and I still need to pass emissions (the car is currently regestered in a nonrunning mode)

I intend to upgrade to a racing beat exaust I just need to get the money and pass emissions first.

So since I have the manifold anyway, how hard would it be to connect it to my stock 12a exaust? How exactly would I go about this? (yes I know its just about plugging up the engine using my stock exaust but I NEED to pass emissions and this seems the cheapest way to do it)

you'll have to have a pipe made to mate the exhaust manifold to the rest of the exhaust. you may even have to remove the first cat to do so, but the bend in the Gen II manifold is wrong for the Gen I exhaust, plus the bolt pattern is larger. also, be sure to remember that the pipe needs to be tapped for the oxygen sensor.

if you can find an SE exhaust manifold, i don't think you'll have a problem.

find a gslse manifold, save you alot of headaches. and anyway why buying a 89 header, 84 and 85 header and presilencer is diameter and will bolt on to the stock exhaust better.
