'85 SE value (garage/shop find)
 

So I've stumbled upon an '85 SE with what I think is a Pacific (Pacifica?) wide body kit on it. All the body lines and gaps line up perfectly so I'm happy about that. The engine seems stock but the muffler appears to be aftermarket. There's some rust on the bottom edge of the doors but overall the car didn't seem too bad from what I can see. It has maroon leather, sunroof, stock wheels and hasn't been on the road since '92 so I don't know what condition the engine/trans is in. The interior is in great condition and with a little cleaning should look super. The price is $1700 with a bill of sale but I'm working and crossing fingers on getting the ownership. I think for the price I have options (part out or get it running). I'll post a picture of the car and mileage, but can someone tell me if that's 12k or 129k on the odometer?

I don't think it's a Pacifica. Mileage is 12k NOT 112k. At that price, hope the engine is good.

My worry would be the title. Depending on the state, you could have a really hard time getting a title. In my state, you can't use a bill-of-sale to get a title.

Sure looks like 12k on the clock, but that body tells another story. seems odd the would go wide body with stock wheels. looks like an interesting find.

Umm.. You say bill of sale. Not a title? I have never bought a car without a title but understand it can be a hardship. perhaps since it has not been registered since before Jurassic Park... you might not have any DMV nightmares?

Yeah, long story short, there's no title currently but I'm working on getting it. I too have never purchased a vehicle without a title but this car is really calling to me to take it home, title or not, but I'm trying to be rational to avoid problems down the line. My first objective if I pick it up would be to try to get it running!

I'm guessing the wide body wheels were taken off since the car was sitting, but it did not go with the car when it was moved to where it currently is. That's ok though, wheels shouldn't be hard to get.

I just searched for the Pacifica kit and it's a match.

Maybe the speedometer cable snapped or it was disconnected, because that certainly doesn't look like a 12k mile car. Most of the benefit of a low mile car seems to be lost with this one (no mods, no rust, original paint, etc) but for the asking price it still looks like a good starting point. I'd never build a widebody myself, but if I got a deal on one, I wouldn't hesitate to turn it into a track day toy.

Check out the brake and clutch pedals. That is a good gauge of an estimate of actual mileage. There seems something amiss with that car, but I still would go for it with that price. Dependent on the title.

I hear you guys, as much as I would've loved for it to be all stock and in mint condition, the price somewhat makes up for it. Even if it becomes a parts car.

i can't comment much as the only pic i see in the post is of the gauge cluster. but if looks resemble the mileage i'd pick it up in a heart beat, title or not.

Go for it for that price, could always part it out for more than that if need be. If it was a true Pacifica widebody kit I'd pick it up as a shell..

Still has no title but I've come to the realization that it doesn't matter as I'd rather have a complete car for parts with almost perfect interior than pass it up. I haven't gone over the whole car yet as I got it home late but I'm going to start working on it this weekend.
I did find the glass roof inside so that's a plus!
I'll post before and after pictures after I clean it up.

I forgot to ask, is there a way to unlock the rear glass without using the key or the power button (No keys and no battery at the moment)?
Can I remove the door key cylinder and have a key made? I'd hate to have to change the ignition switch and all the key locks!

use another vehicle and some jumper cables.

Yeah I was thinking about that or just getting a cheap battery. So does that mean there's no manual way to unlock the hatch without the key or button?

I've never heard of a way to manually do this without the key. Sorry.
