'84 SE Injectors Not Pulsing
 

Ok I believe that my fuel injectors aren't pulsing because my car doesn't want to start and I checked the plugs and they are absolutely clean (brand new), no smell to them either. Spark is confirmed and so is fuel to the rail.

What I would like to know is what could cause my injectors to not be working. I just had them cleaned and everything too.

i think you wanna pull out a volt meeter and check the leads to the injectors see if they are getting any power.

And this will be with just key on?

Ok not sure if I checked correctly but did it with the key on of course.

Voltage read between 0.01-0.04. So I'm guessing that's no good.

Check at the ECU injector terminals. Should be 12V. If not, check your wiring. Also injectors are triggered off the trailing ignition. I'm kind of hazy on that, but I don't think they'll fire if your trailing ignitor is bad or unplugged. Check that everything is hooked up.

When you took them out for cleaning, what was the condition of the connectors?

The connectors seem fine.
I have spark at trailing plugs so I don't think the ignitor is bad.
I'll check at the ecu and see what's up.

Ok so I checked the voltage at the ecu and its getting 12v on both injectors but .04 at the injectors plugs.

Any ideas?

Check the wires. 12V at the ECU is good, but seems it gets lost somewhere along the way.

Im sure you checked the obvious things, fusible links/fuses. Also, the two main relays on the drivers side shock tower. Do you have accesories getting switched power off of the coil? That will fry one of those relays, and give the symptoms your having, depending on what relay it burns. I went through that last year.

No I don't have any accessories connected there. I will check the main relays as well.

Just a question, when you turn the key to on but not start the car, just on, do all the dummy lights go away after a few seconds or no?

Ok I checked voltage at the plugs again and it reads 12v but that's only when I'm grounding to the chassis. But if I ground through the ground wire on the plug I only get .02v is this how its supposed to work or is there something wrong?

And where is the ground for the injectors.

If the rx7 is like my 280zx then the injectors should have a constant 12v. The ECU grounds the injector when it wants them to fire.

With the key on, do you have 12v to + side of coil? Im still saying it sounds like the EGI fusible link.

Idk I'll check that again but I have an fc fuse block in there instead of the fusibles. None of them were blown.

Ok I am getting 12v to the trailing coil. It seems as if everything is getting appropriate voltage. Is there other things that would cause the injectors not to fire.

Apparently the ecu isn't getting something it needs to tell the injectors to fire. But that's just an educated guess lol.

Have you swapped the ignitors around, I know some people have said the injector firing signal comes from the trailing ignitor. Also, Ive read that there is a ground under the rats nest, although I cant seem to find it in the FSM. But regardless, the injectors get theyre ground from the ECU. Could even be a bad ECU.

No I swapped ecu's with a good one.
I'll check swapping the ignitors.
Yeah there is a ground on the rats nest right under the relief solenoid or whatever it is.
