is a 84 GSL-SE EVER worth $3900?
 

there's a 84 GSL-SE for sale here 5 speed with 101,588 Miles on the od. it's silver with red int. I say it's a 9 out of 10 on condtion(inside and out look almost peficte no noticeable problems). would you EVER think it's worth $3900? that's more than I spent on my 2nd gen!

I've seen them go that high before. Usually in damn near perfect shape too.

My car is a 1985 GSL-SE with 115,500 miles on it. White with maroon velour interior. The inside is in excellent shape. The body is in very good shape, with a little rust bubbling over the left rear fender well. Overall I would say the car is a 7.5 to 8 out of 10. The tires have 6,500 miles on them. I would be ecstatic if I could get C$3,900
for it, but I only paid C$3,500 for it 7 years ago.

I don't know US prices, but it strikes me you are paying too much, unless there is some premium built in for a collectors item or scarce vehicle that I am not aware off.

I wouldn't sell mine for any less, and likely more.

The SE's are worth the money and could be that the seller just happens to know what he has.

I would pay $3900 for a clean GSL-SE in a heartbeat.

I just posted an ad tonight to sell my 84 GSL-SE, I am beginning to regret it every second that passes.

When the price of a new car exceeds $22,000.00, the price of a clean classic sports car, like the RX-7 is well worth that price

I paid $3000 for my gsl-se (with rims) the second it was offered. The chick kinda wondered what was up, cause i said "I'll sell my car and buy yours if you want to get rid of it...."

she was like... ok yeah i'm kinda looking for a 4 seater. So i sold my car (in like a week!! lucky story), and got the rest to her in another week. I took off like i stole the thing, cause i practically did for that price. It had 115k on the clock. I consider that sale to be EXTREMELY low for the car i got (stock w/ rims added and CD player)

I wouldnt pay that much.

Prices vary by location, at least in the U.S. We West Coasters would have to pay ~$4K for a pimp SE. Sevens seem to be more common the further east you go, probably as a function of average population density.

I bought my LE for $900, interior needs some new deck carpeting and seats need to be recovered. But the engine was clean, and only 137k miles on the original motor. I drove away like I was being shot at.

Yeah, until you hit PA. Up here in North Central PA, There's only Seven Rx-7s that I know of in about a 150 mile area... And my dad and I account for two of them. There's about three or four more during the college year, though..

too many people here bought their cars for too little money. there is no reason a good clean gsl se should not sell for that price. I would expect to see them selling for more with the respect that our 1st gens are again starting to recive. if you have cruized some of the other car makes boards recently you would find that most think rx7 owners are elitist pricks and live only to do them in on the track or street. many on the drag circuts are trying to call the unfair advantage card against rotarys. so yea why wouldnt a gsl se be worth that or more. I think today a great portion of people are considering the total investment point of view. for what it cost to make are cars very fast in comparison to others make our cars a great deal. and most others can not compete in the looks area.

hey wonko, I'm within 150 miles, and I have 2, so you can add them :D ;) and I have lots of friends in md who have them (I know of at least 7 within 10 miles of my house) so there may be more than you think.

and kuhlrx7, i "bought" mine for too little money, since it was free :D but that's cause i'm lucky (so far...)

Kiker14 - Eh, I don't think you'd count... I should have specified 150 mile diameter... You're a bit more than 75 miles away... There's a reasonable amount down near Lancaster/Chambersburg/Shippingsburg/Carlisle, i've seen.. My sister lives down there. But there's nada up here..

uhm might look in to it then I know that the mazda dealership had this car about 1 month ago for 4K the cerrent dealership (use car lot) got it from acton. don't think the engine is in good shape. I'll go drive it :)

Damn, I'd grab that real quick if I were you. Definitely worth the price, especially here where I live.

Good Clean first gen. RX-7's are impossible to find here. I am always getting hasseled to sell mine to someone. So up here if you can find one, they are almost worth whatever the buyer is asking. It's that or go without one.

update: the engine runs but only so so with 133K on the clock int and ext are great but the engine looks like it had only 4 oil changes in it's live (re lupy brown oil) the dealership is the mazda's "last resort" used car lot hehe I think it will go to slabs if it does not sell the price now reads "3700 or best offer" I offered blue book for it :) anyway if any one want's to have it I can give you the location

You got to figure,the car is 20 years old now.its a top of the line model,and it is no longer in production.In 1989,what could you buy a 69 shelby mustang for?in 99 that price doubled,friend appraised his gt350 for 43k,neighbor just sold his 69 1/2 camaro for 30k with a blown tranny.It's all about finding a niche and a right buyer for a car!I bought my rex for 50 buck and now the kid wants it back.parts cars are going for 500,so imagine a restorable car.

I paid $3200 for my GSL, with the bodykit, different 4 x 110 rims, wing, and AutoPlas louvers. Only had 42k on the odometer though.

Id let some one steal mine for 4500. and it has 185k. on the clock. Theres every kind of car where I live and olny a hand full of SEs Ill bet theres more Ferraris

That's not a good price if it doesn't run well or have any service history.

I've been offered what most people here would call a ridiculous amount of money for my mostly stock 85 SE.

It's still mine, though ;-}
