84 13b rebuild need help on mods

I just started to take the 13b out of my 84 gslse. ineed to know what i can do to it while i am rebuilding it. i want to get as much hp as i can from motor only. no turbo what can i do

street port it while the engine's apart. That's about as good as it gets when t comes to internals.

You could also get yourself an S5 flywheel and rotors and e-shaft assembly for that 10,000 rpm stress limit.

Those components really have a 10K rpm stress limit? I never knew that but I would guess that it does not help that much when the apex seals "limit" beein sumwhere around 8,400?

who should i get my parts from. rebuild kit ect..

Makenzie71 10-30-03 06:17 PM

lol...the S5 rotors and shaft and such can spin damn fast but you're right...the seals and various other things would have to be upgraded to be able to do it reliably...not many people who use those parts intend to spin em that fast...usually they just want the lighter rotors and higher comp.

people look but dont say a thang

sorry guy...that's about the jist of internal upgrades...porting...the rest is outside the engine. This isn't a piston engine where you look at machining crank-shafts and forged rods and pistons and stuff...I mean hell you only really got 8 parts IN ALL that you can really modify...

Makenzie71 10-31-03 12:07 AM

here ya go...this this just covers porting but it's a cool list.

The mods with your engine pretty much are carburetor, porting, exhaust. Those are the major things.

You can upgrade to 3mm apex seals.

Makenzie71 10-31-03 02:58 PM

I thought the 3mm seals were more for forced induction applications...if there are no intentions for turbo charging or supercharging they're kinna overkill...that's just what I had thought...I don't know for certain.
