83 rx7 clutch help

im new to the site and did a lot of searching regarding this topic. i recently bought a new xtd stage2 clutch kit to change out my old clutch. i unbolted the driveshaft from the differential and the transmission from the block. i am stuck on trying to get the shifter out because i cant get the center console out. any help, pictures, diagrams, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

take the shifter handle off uncrew it like any old thread. Take the plastic shroud off it.
Should pop out with a screw driver"flathead". then take the three 10mm bolts off that hold the shifter in and your good to go..

Welcome to the forum.
You do not need to remove the center console to remove the shifter. You remove the shifter knob, then the shifter trim. Underneath that you will find the rubber boots that seal the shifter area. Pull up on those until you expose the top of the shifter tower. You will see 3 bolts. You need a 10mm socket to remove them.
Pull the shifter straight up and then you can safely lower your trans.

yes the first time u pull it out u REALLY gotta pull i thought i missed something the fisrt time i did it also but it was just really tight.....after u feel it POP out itll move really loose u can just leave it there and drop the trans....but remember when u put the trans back on to have someone line the shifter up or it might go off to the side.
