83 rx7 center console

Did it come with this console in 83 ?, please say yes

RotorMotorDriver 03-24-02 03:08 AM

Nope, sorry to say, but that is strictly an 84/85 center console...Kind of a toss-up which one I would want...

Damn, that really sucks, i will still get the car anyway. I came across a deal of a 83 with fresh street ported 4 port 13b (2000kms), full exhaust, lightened fly wheel, race clutch, mesh wheels, mikuni carbs, msd ignition, fully done suspension, and tuned on a dyno. There is more too it but i cant remember it all. Car runs a 13.2

Guy is selling it for 4 grand canadian. I think that is an absolutle steal for whats done to it. Anyway I am going to check it out tomorrow and test drive it so I will update you guys after I do. Thanks for the info/help
Appreciate it;)

Ryan

Well, If it has a 13B in it, then unless he swapped in the 13B, Id say its an 84/85 GSL-SE. They came with the 13B stock, and with that interior, its from the right year range.

the letter "F" in the vin indicates an 85, E 84, D 83, i think its the 10th digit,,,,

Yep. Felix is right. If it's a 4 port, it's either an Old-School 4-port 13B (78 & Earlier) or a Frankenstein'ed 85/85 13B with 12A covers.

Either way, Sounds real good to run those numbers.

Felix Wankel 03-24-02 04:21 PM

You could also use a TII engine with NA rotors and 12A front cover, although I don't know why anyone would. Looking at the rotor housings should tell you what you've got.

Ryan R 03-24-02 09:38 PM

Well I went to see the car today and lest just say I passed on it. It had a little more hidden rust than I had hoped and the guy only had 2000k on the motor and is already red lining it in every gear. Exampe on how to not break in a rotary. I had my friend Bryan look at the car and he found that a line that goes to the oil metering pump or somthing was not connected and he says that unless the guy is using premix for gas that the engine is getting no oil while driving. That was another turn off. Plus there was somthing about the guy that I didn't trust, it just didn't feel right to me. But ya the engine in it was a street ported 13B 4 port out of an RX-3. Oh well the hunt goes on. :(

riffraff 03-24-02 09:45 PM

that is an awsome engine ( i have one out of an rx-4) but sucks about how he is treating it...
good luck on finding something else

Pittdp 03-24-02 11:56 PM

No I should have explained it better. He said he doesn't take it over 4 grand, then following that he said until its warmed up. And I said how long have you been doing that for ? then he said since I got it back after the rebuild. He reved it to 8 grand right after the rebuild and has been doing so ever since. Say's rotary's like to be reved. I said ya they do, well thanks for your time Bye.

V8kilr 03-25-02 12:49 AM

power windows switches and the crank on the passenger side barely visible

JoseReyes 03-26-02 02:22 AM

JoseReyes 03-26-02 05:04 PM

What's wrong with the window cranks? they're the stock window cranks... I have manual windows not power windows. Athough I have all the parts to put powee windows on the car, I haven't got to changing all that stuff... Not sure if I what to add some weight... versus taking weight off... besides I have read a lot of threats were the pw are more of a pain that they work....

Is that a fact or is it that some how they were not installed correctly...

to have so much problems with them being slow or falling off the tracks...etc,etc...
