hooked up nitrous for my friends carbed rx7http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...turbo/rx73.jpg
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...turbo/rx72.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...turbo/rx71.jpg i think its a 4160 holley 4 bbl. carb.edelbrock spray plate....pulls hard with the smallest (75 shot) loud as hell too |
nice set up!, is the motor stock?
motor is stock, looks like its been in there for a long while. gets beat on daily
How does your car idle using the NOS plate? Can you get it to idle good with the plate? My setup just wouldn't idle good so I went with the fogger unit.
it idles at about 1k. actually idled better with the plate on
vid?
vid with sound pretty please :ylsuper:
ill try today
if you can get a shot on the speedo when yoru doing it, that would be sweet so we can see how fast it pulls.
How much of a shot. 50?
I used to run a streetported 13b with a ~150 shot in an 81. Ran like a raped ape... It kept destroying rear ends and trannies though...https://www.rx7club.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
I later put a 7 inch blower on the car... |
Run it a bit rich...Also I ran single tip race plugs which made a big difference for me.
what are you running for fuel?? are you just using a seperate pump and pump gas??
Any more details on your set up?
fuel feed is tapped off the fuel line going to the carb. no extra pump.
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku used this spray plate with the smallest jets with 87 octane for a test run. still need to replace the spark plugs and tune with 91 octane and 75 shot jets. whats the deal with the tach? does it spin arond twice to 14k? why does it have a redline at 8k? we just sprayed it form 4-8k started pulling hard at 7k vid soon forgot my camera on sat |
What fuel pump and fpr are you running?
another question this motor has 13b stamped on it. does that mean its from a newer rx7?
It could be newer, though it could be older.
They made 4 Port 13B engines in the 70's before the RX-7 came about, but also in '84 they started putting 6 port 13B's in the RX-7. |
I hear those plate kits arent that great? Not sure why but please tell me I'm wrong as I would much rather go NOS than turbo for many reasons. Post some vids.
Are you trying to break things? I'm all for the N20 but use it properly.
91+ octane retard timing remove the secondary plug wires run colder primary plugs. Also if your using the factory fuel pump you don't have enough fuel. Do all that and your little 12A will go through alotta bottles! If you keep up at the rate your going you'll blow it for sure! Good luck. |
Reminds me of my old 1980 with a 13B in it. Had a Holly 650 and an RB header on it.
If the rotor housing says 13B Mazda, then it must be a 13B......... |

ive seen you say that before, dont get me wrong, im not disagreeing with you, but could you please explain why you should remove the secondary wires?
Never noticed this post... might as well answer late is better than never! Anyway you remove the trailing plugs because they are fired after the leading plugs. In a NA world that is ok it just reignites a small amount of the A/F mixture for a more complete burn. With N20 the flamefront is insanely fast and trying to reignite it will only cause detonation. SO... by ditching the secondary plugs wires you help prevent detonation. Also you should have a locked out distrib. U can buy them from rotaryshack.com or just lock them nmanually yourself. Wonder if this motor in the post lasted long? It's been a year any updates? My motor is still going strong! Had a few bottles through it! |
So trailing igniton is disabled on a car with NAWZ? That's interesting.
