79-80 RX-7 Brake Master Cylinder source??

Hey guys,

I posted a few weeks ago about a mystery leak in my 79 brakes system, and shortly there after found my master cylinder is weeping out the back of it. I called Mazdatrix last week to order a new master cylinder, and was told they were showing a negative, and it should be only a few days before they get some in stock. I called today to check the status of the master, and was told by another rep that they don't have any,and they either may never get, any,or they could come in tomorrow. The guy told me they are really hard to get,and that they never know if they will get any in stock(why they don't list this on their site I don't know).

Well I guess this kills the idea of using the car for the autocross I was planning on going to this weekend. I called a couple of local parts houses(Autozone,Advance,NAPA),and they all tell me they can get a rebuild maybe in a week or so,but not a new one(like Mazdatrix was telling me).My question is,should I break down, and get a rebuilt one locally, buy a rebuild kit from either MT,parts house,or go through the major hassle of upgrading the whole barke system to the 81-85 system?I would rather not do the brake upgrade,as my car is pretty much all original, but if these MC are that hard to get maybe I should. I am not totally against the rebuild MC,but I had lots of trouble with a few rebuild units on my 92 Dodge truck years ago.

Thanks in advance.

Take my advise don't rebuild it yourself. Always seems to fail within a few thousand miles every time I've done it. Get a reman, they're cheap, like maybe 30 bucks and go to the autox. Then keep looking for a new one if thats what you want.
